They say when you snooze you lose and this is what I did today. As it was a perfect day for teaching. As February 2 is Groundhog Day a perfect holiday for adding some fun activities to your homeschool. So I might be a day late I thought you might still want to teach your students about Groundhog Day. Because in Homeschool we can teach anything we want at any time.
Books about Groundhogs for children of all ages:
Questions to ask your students:
1) Did the Groundhog see his Shadow today?
If you could write a letter asking the Groundhog for 6 weeks or would you ask for more Winter or for Summer and why?
How many words can your students make out of the word Groundhog Day?
Here are some Videos our children can watch:
- “Groundhogs” (Groundhog facts by Science Museum of Virginia)
- “Groundhogs” (Groundhog facts by Science Museum of Virginia)
Then have them answer some questions you prepare.
Or you could have them prepare a report to be read to you.
Or let them act out some items they learned from the videos.
Music:
Watch both videos and then come back and write a report letting us know which one you liked the best and why.
Please list at least 3 things you learned from these Videos.
