History Channel: The History of “Taps” on Memorial Day– Grades 4 & up, with parental supervision

Memorial Day honors those in the U.S. military who have died in service to their country. Traditionally, the song Taps is played at military burial ceremonies. Do you know why?

Watch a seven-minute video by the History Channel that explains the origin of the song, Taps, and why it is part of our American heritage.

By the way, you can read the lyrics to Taps here.

Note: Because the video featured in today’s review is on the YouTube channel, you can expect to see random advertisements and random comments posted by visitors to the website. Therefore, as always, parents should preview the site and supervise all Internet activity.

Thank you,
