Homeschool Resources ClickSchooling
I am excited that IXL offers over 100 topics as it allows Charlie to use the site again and again and again and never do the same math problems again. So I know this will keep Charlie more focused. And I am so happy as David and I can use the site as well and be better at teaching Charlie.
And I have a question have you used IXL before and if so what did you think about it? And would you use it again and if not why not? And if you haven’t used it would you think about it and if so why? And what grade would you use it for? As I will be checking into it for both 2nd and 3rd grade.
Members tell us time and again that their kids just LOVE IXL Math. With over
100 topics, over 100 skills, unlimited math questions, we were told that a child can literally use this program for hours and never repeat a single question! That offers a lot of challenges to sharpen your child’s math skills. Members save 25% on this exclusive GroupBuy offer at the Co-op. And, if purchased this month as a Deal of the Month, you’ll also get 400 SmartPoints!
I am so glad ClickSchooling is sharing math websites with us. As there is so much I want to teach Charlie before he goes back to school next month. And I am not sure how to teach all of the things I think he needs to know. So by using the websites ClickSchooling shares with us both Charlie and I can do the math on them and learn together. And he will be more prepared and hopefully ahead when he starts 3rd grade.
And with Charlie having ADHD it is hard to get him to sit down and do the work he needs to do. And knows he should do. So I am so happy that PilTulga.com uses music in its math courses as Charlie loves music and I am sure this will keep his attention much more than other websites we have used in the past. And it will even keep me more focused as I seem to drift off when teaching Charlie. Heck, I wonder if I have ADHD as well?

Phil Tulga is a professional musician and music instructor. He has developed educational programs that weave music through the curriculum in almost every subject. As a complement to his music programs, Phil has developed a series of FREE, interactive math and music activities that are available on his website.
When you get to the site you will see a menu that includes Math and Science – Phil takes popular math manipulatives and enhances them with rhythm and music. You’ll find:
- Unifix Cube Drum Machine – This shows students how famous composers have used repeating patterns to create music. Students can make their own rhythm or drum patterns with popular Unifix cubes.
- Musical Fraction Bars – Mathematicians like Pythagoras discovered that musical pitches are derived from fractions. In this activity, students compose and play their own songs using Musical Fraction Bars. Not only that, you’ll find instructions for how to build a homemade musical instrument that is based on these fractions.
- Pattern Block Rock – Song melodies are patterns of short and long sounds. In this activity, students compose and play their own rhythmic songs using geometric shapes.
After exploring the math activities
check out the “Language Arts” section. Get Phil’s tips for how to encourage a love of reading in your child. Then, use the innovative “Cucumber Pickle Machine” to show your kids how to make rhythmic meters by combining two and three syllable words! Phil uses the musical score of “Peter and the Wolf” to teach storyline components complete with story maps!
Don’t miss “Homemade Instruments” where you’ll find directions for making your own panpipes, water bottle xylophone, tubular Glockenspiel, and melodic tube drums!
