WikiSky.org

Grades 4 and up, with parental supervision

WikiSky.org is to the Universe what Google Earth is to the Earth — a fantastic way to explore the Constellations and Galaxies from the comfort of your home.

WikiSky has created an extremely detailed Sky Map to help everybody better understand the information gathering about any Space object and various phenomena connected with those Space objects. When you get to the site, you can type in the name of the object you are looking for in the “Find Object” box.

Or you can scroll over and click on any of the links on the right. You’ll see that object on the screen along with some text explaining more. However, we suggest you click on “Getting Started” to learn more on how to move about the site.

American Chemical Society: National Chemistry Week

American Chemical Society, Chemistry for Life ®

Grades 1-12, with parental supervision

National Chemistry Week takes place October 17-23, 2021, and the American Chemical Society provides all kinds of free, fun ways to celebrate Chemistry at their website. (Get a head start on the fun!) The program is designed to reach the public, particularly Elementary and Secondary school children, with positive messages about Chemistry. The theme for this year is “Fast or Slow … Chemistry Makes It Go!”

You can:

  • Explore the Chem Clash Online Chemistry Game Show – A free live interactive chemistry game show where groups of students and early-career chemists compete to out-answer the competition and bring home the title of ChemClash champion!
  • Read the current issue of “Celebrating Chemistry” – includes some activities and experiments along with educational articles
  • Learn more under Educational Resources.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
