Meet Our Founders
Kathryn Starke is a national urban literacy consultant, author, adjunct professor, keynote speaker, and founder of Creative Minds Publications. She has a BS in Elementary Education and MS in Literacy and Culture from Longwood University.
Kathryn taught first, second, and third grade before becoming an elementary school reading specialist and K-5 district literacy coach. She has helped over 100 elementary schools and thousands of children achieve reading success.
Starke has served as a guest lecturer, instructor, and trainer for the University of Chicago, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Mary Baldwin University.
Starke is the author of Amy’s Travels, a diverse children’s book that teaches the seven continents. She wrote and published Tackle Reading and A Touchdown in Reading, two educational resources created to support parents and teachers promote a love of literacy at home and in school. Starke is the creator of Tackle Reading Day, an annual educational initiative supported by the NFL.
