Here is a new Homeschool Resource Evan-Moore Poetry. Poetry isn’t something I have even thought about teaching Charlie. I know poetry is something he will need to learn. I am not sure if they do acquire it in 2nd grade or not. And I haven’t had anyone to ask if it is something I should be teaching or not.
When I received receivedst email from Evan-Moor, and it had items inside it to teach Poetry to second graders. I figured we could at least do these exercises to begin Poetry lessons. With April being “National Poetry” month I thought you might want to check them out as well. And see if it is something your children would enjoy.
The Academy of American Poets established April as National Poetry Month in 1996. Use these Evan-Moor activities and lessons to celebrate poetry and inspire students to write a poem of their own!
Grades PreK-1: Poetry starters, rhyming ideas, riddles, and more.
Grades 1–3: Poetry center activity
Grades 3–6: “I Saw” poetry writing activity

Grades 5–6: A read and understand lesson for “Grass.”
Subscribe to there Joy of Teaching blog for more free activities and lessons ideas, including:

I have a question for you with April being National Poetry Month are you teaching Poetry or not. If so for what grade? Have you ever checked out this new Homeschool Resource Evan-Moore Poetry?
What did you think about Evan-Moore Poetry? Is Evan-Moor something you would use in the future? If Evan-Moore Poetry isn’t why?
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
