This week’s Homeschool Resource: Jellyroll is a inspiration to so may people through his life and musical carrier and its who Charlie will be studying this week. I’ve been looking for Jellyroll’s album Whitsitt Chapel which has I Need A Favor and Son of A Sinner which is on Ballads of The Broken. I would like to ask you a question. Do you listen to Jelly Roll? If so do you have a favorite song by Jellyroll?

Jason Bradley DeFord (born December 4, 1984), known professionally by his stage name Jelly Roll (sometimes stylized as JellyRoll), is an American rapper and multi-genre singer/songwriter. In 2023, he won three CMT Music Awards for the song “Son of a Sinner“.[5]

Early life

Jason DeFord was raised in the Antioch neighborhood of Nashville, Tennessee.[6][7] His father was a meat salesman and worked as a bookie on the side; his mother dealt with mental health and substance abuse.[8]

At age 14, he and several others were arrested and charged with multiple counts of possession of marijuana and attempted robbery, after an attempted marijuana robbery.[9][8]

Career

Before his transition into country music, Jelly Roll launched his career in hip hop. After being inspired by rappers such as Three 6 MafiaUGK, and 8Ball & MJG. He would sell mixtapes out of his car,[8] starting with a string of releases from his first project The Plain Shmear Tape in 2003 then following with the four part Gamblin’ on the White Boy series from 2004 to 2011.

Monday:

Write your Spelling words 5 time each in your Spelling Journal.

Tuesday:

Write your Spelling Words in your Spelling Journal and include a definition for each word.

Wednesday:

Use your Spelling words in a story you create and include a illustration for your story in your Spelling Journal.

Or use your Spelling words in sentences you write in your Spelling Journal.

Thursday:

Take a Pre-Spelling Test and if you miss any of the words write them 5 times each in your Spelling Journal.

Friday:

If you missed words on your Pre-Test retake your Spelling Test and if you mad e a 100 then take today off and do something fun.

Write what you did in your Spelling Journal.

Reading Class:

Charlie will be reading JELLY ROLL BIOGRAPHY: American Rapper and Songwriter with Jason Deford as His Real Name and Meet Jelly Roll, the Rapper Turned Country Singer Rousing Nashville for 30 minutes a day.

Monday thru Thursday Charlie will be writing 2 facts he learned about Jelly Roll in his Reading Journal.

On Friday Charlie will turn the facts he learned into a report to be read outloud.

Math Class:

Look up facts on Jelly Roll and turn the answers you find into 5 math problems for someone in your home to work out. Then have them create 5 math problems for you to do. Write the math problems in your Math Notebook.

How many albums has he sold?

Drama Class:

Watch Jelly Rolls performances on award shows and concerts and act out moves him and his band members do. Write a description of your performance in your writing journal.

Music Class:

Listen to songs by Jelly Roll and learn one of the songs to perform for your parents. Write the lyrics to the song inside your Music Journal.

For a Homeschool Field Trip visit a Resale Clothing Store or Thrift Store for a outfit Jelly Roll would wear for your performance to make it more authentic.

PE Class:

See if you can find out if Jelly Roll does any type of physical exercise and do the same in your PE Class or look up dances that can be sung to his songs and learn one of the dances to Perform for your parents.

Write a description of your performance in your drama journal.

Art Class:

Create a piece of Art based on all the information you collected using different styles of art and supplies.

Then include a definition of what your art piece is of in your Art Journal.

Cooking Class:

Look up what Jelly Roll likes to eat and prepare that recipe for your family. If you can’t find what he likes to eat then look up what State Jelly Roll came from and prepare the dish they are famous for.

Write the recipe inside your Music Journal which will be turned into a Cookbook at the end of the year.
