Homeschool Resource Funbrain

The Mommies Reviews
It’s Wednesday, and time for Language Arts in our Homeschool Classroom this morning. So I would like to bring you a new Homeschool Resource called Funbrain which I can’t wait to check out with Charlie. On Funbrain we will be able learn the origin of words helping Charlie with both reading and writing.

We thought it would be fun to play some games that teach the origin of words – which can be very helpful when it comes to honing spelling and vocabulary skills.
The first site we are highlighting is Funbrain: Rooting Out Words– Uncover the meaning of root words with this fun game for kids. Levels: easy, medium, and hard.

Here are a few more:

QUIA: Greek & Latin Root Words Match Game – Like the game “Concentration” just match the root word with its meaning.

Sporcle: Etymology Trivia Quizzes and Games – This website, whose mission is to provide fun through trivia, boasts of over 250 k user-generated trivia games you can choose from to play. You are also invited to create up to 25 of your own game/quizzes per month where you can track your stats and invite others to play. If your game/quiz becomes popular, it could be featured on the front page of the website. In order to create a game/quiz, you’ll need to sign up for a free account.

Free Rice: Define Words and Feed the Hungry! – At this website, you can take a multiple choice quiz to define words and feed the hungry at the same time! It doesn’t cost a thing to learn vocabulary and help end world hunger!

I have a question for you what resources do you use for Language Arts and why do you use that resource? Is there anything you dislike about the resource you use and if so what do you dislike about this resource?
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
