Homeschool Feid Trip: McKinney’s ‘Tiny Doors’

The Mommies Reviews

I’ve been wanting to get out of our house and explore other Cities near by and check out local restaurants. I was thinking for a Field Trip this week we could go to McKinney and have lunch and check out McKinney’s tiny doors exhibits. Which would allow us to get out and walk and spend time together as a family. Giving us plenty of photos for reports in our Homeschool. Would you like to join us?

Each door has a unique character either representing a nearby business or a piece of McKinney’s history allowing us to get to know the City better. Why there we can visit the Visitors Center to see what other must see places we should visit and which restaurant to try for lunch. I bet you I would get my steps in and Charlie would have PE done that day.

The McKinney Square has a culture of artistry, living history and a charm that sets the Town apart from other downtowns throughout North Texas. The city has added to that charm with the installation of over 50 tiny doors throughout the square. Cultural District Director Andrew Jones, the doors are all unique, representing businesses and others representing the artist who created the buildings.

“A big part of the initiative in Downtown McKinney is have people come and explore all of downtown,” Jones said. “At this point, we have over 170 small businesses, which is one of the largest groupings of small businesses in Texas. Along with a thriving cultural district with a lot of unique artists and unique arts organizations.

Shoppers are encouraged to tag Downtown McKinney or use the hashtag #tinydoorsmckinney.
