Welcome to our series sharing Unique Holidays: November 24th, 2021. Did you know it’s All Our Uncles Are Monkeys which is true….
All Our Uncles are Monkeys Day– Always November 24th.
Today is a very special day, if there ever was one.
Evolution Day Proclamation
Today is the Anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin’s book: On the Origin of Species in 1859. His controversial theory turned the world upside down, in the thinking of how we came to be. And, it remains controversial to this day.
This very special day for all homo sapiens is also called “All Our Uncles Are Monkeys Day“.
This Holiday has even more significance and it is also the Anniversary of the discovery of “Lucy”, the Australopithecus afarensis skeleton, by Donald Johanson and Tom Gray in 1974. This skeleton is very important in the study of evolution.
Origin of Evolution Day:
We did not find who declared or created this Holiday celebration. Let’s face it, our Evolution is indeed a very important event to be celebrated.
We also did not find out when this Holiday was created. Perhaps, you can narrow it down to sometime between this year and 1859, when Darwin published his Theory of Evolution. I like to think we’ve been celebrating this Holiday since the dawn of mankind.
