Golfer’s Day

Festivity 365 - April 10th - Golfers Day - YouTube

Aavid golfers might suggest any and every day is Golfer’s Day. But on April 10th, it’s official. The only question is, does this day honor the golfer, the sport, or the weather? Well, it’s a little of each. Golfer’s Day is an opportunity to be thankful t someone invented this addicting, hobby.

The Holiday is also referred to as “Golf Day”. There is only one proper way to enjoy this day. That’s out on the golf course.

When Golfer’s Day falls on a week day, it is even more special. Now you have an excuse to take a day off of work and go play a round …or two. Regardless of your score today, you know that even a bad day on the greens, is better than a good day at work.

Bob Hope says: If you think golf is relaxing, you’re not playing it right.” – – Bob Hope

National Farm Animals Day

April 10th is National Farm Animals Day #NationalFarmAnimalsDay | National animal, Pet day, Farm day

This holiday supports a noble cause according to Colleen Paige, the creator of this day, National Farm Animals Day was created to “raise awareness about the plight of slaughter animals, and to find homes for abandoned and abused farm animals”. The day promotes the welfare of American livestock.

Old McDonald has a farm and on Old McDonald’s farm, and many other farms, you will see a wide variety of domesticated animals. Some of the common farm animals include: cows, chickens, horses, pigs, sheep, turkey, ducks, rabbits, and goats.Did you know that’s not the whole list. There are many other animals that are sometimes raised on farms. Other less common farm animals are:  Llamas, ostriches, buffalo, and even oxen, there could even be more.

When we think of farm animals, we think of thelovable side of them. We don’t think of their treatment and living conditions which isn’t always perfect. They could endure many forms of abuse, and are often treated with excessive hormones and antibiotics.

If your Homeschooling which we are then you might want to visit a working farm today for a Field Trip.Visiting a farm is a way to gain appreciation for the treatment and living condition of farm animals.

National Siblings Day

National Siblings Day 2021 Quotes, Wishes, Greeting, and Images

National Sibling Day is a day to appreciate and cherish your brothers and sisters. Although, we should do this every day it can be hard to. But I would like to remind you tomorrow isn’t PROMISED. Take the time to call your siblings and tell them you love them.

Charlie has two sisters and a brother. Charlie and Leslie are pretty close but he isn’t close to his other sister Ashley which is her fault because she moved and don’t talk to us.

Then his brother Travis is in and out of our lives but Charlie does love and miss him. Just as David misses all of his children. As for Suzzane she left behind numerous step brothers and sisters. Which I do speak to when I see them.

For me I have one sister and one brother and I will call both of them today to check on them. Just as David is going to do his brother Mike and he will drop a Six pack of Beer off to his younger brother who we see in stores once and awhile when they stop and talk. Because Bo’s wife doesn’t want any of us around.

I would like to remind you siblings are a special blessing that we probably all too often take for granted. Just like our parents and now that mine are gone all I have is my sister and brother.

Siblings like my sister can be our best friends and supporters through life. Another reason to celebrate is that not everyone is lucky enough to have siblings. Their lives are significantly different growing up, and throughout  life.

Celebrate National Sibling Day in a variety of ways. It’s a great time to be thankful for your sibling. But, most importantly get in touch with your siblings. Visit them if they live nearby. Call them, if they live far away. Send them a card, a letter, gifts, or flowers.

Remember siblings don’t have to be BLOOD.. Some of my best friends are adopted sisters and brothers and at times I am closer to them than my blood siblings.

Safety Pin Day

International Safety... - Holidays That Might Get Overlooked | Facebook

The safety pin was patented on April 10, 1849. Patent #6,281. On Safety Pin Day, we celebrate this invention and its inventor.

The year was 1849 and Inventor Walter Hunt was in debt. He owed $15 to a friend. Hunt decided the way to get out of debt, was to invent something that he could sell. Remember this isn’t as easy as it sounds…

What was that great idea, that profitable invention? It was the safety pin. Which Walter Hunt wisely applied for, and received a patent for this invention.

The safety pin is much safer than a straight pin, and quickly became popular. Walter Hunt sold the safety pins for a profit. Later, he sold the patent and received $400 for it. When Walter Hunt received the money he paid his friend back and pocketed the remaining $385, which was a handsome amount at the time.

Note: A similar invention was made in England. It was called the “English Pin”. In Homeschool this morning Charlie is going to look up both and in his journal tell the differences between the pins.

The holiday was originally called “Safety Pin Day” in 2015. In 2017, this day was often referred to as “International Safety Pin Day”. Shortly after, it was sometimes called “National Safety Pin Day”. We believe this holiday event should be referred to as “Safety Pin Day”, which was its original title.  But which name do you prefer and why?

Safety pins have hundreds, if not thousands of uses. Here are some of them:

  • Pin together two pieces of clothing, often during sewing or sizing for sewing clothes together
  • Pin together cloth diapers. You remember them donthca? Let me tell you I used them with Suzzane and they were a pain in the BUTT!!
  • Keep cloth bags closed yes, even food at times
  • Punk culture used them for decorating clothing I can’t wait to share this fact with Charlie
  • Pinning things on a hat. Just don’t stick yourself
  • Pinning awards and medals on shirts and uniforms. Including Military Uniforms.
  • Pin ID name tags to clothing especially in school
  • Lose a button? A safety pin is a good temporary replacement. Or use them when a zipper breaks.
  • It is a form of good luck to some people.
  • Ukrainians put them on children to ward off evil spirits.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
