I’m back with another interview with a Direct Sales Consultant. We are featuring Plexus. Would you please help me welcome Cheri deFonteny. Before you ask I think in the past I’ve tried Plexus but I’m not 100% sure of that. I would like to try there “pink drink” one day as I do want to lose this weight that just will not go away.
1. Tell me how you got involved in your business?
A friend of mine had been posting about Plexus on Facebook. I’d lost my grandmother a couple of months earlier and was having some physical symptoms arise because of the grief and depression. I ordered the flagship product—Plexus Slim—thinking maybe I could at least lose a few pounds and maybe that would help me. I wasn’t expecting the overall improvement in how I felt, but it was a welcome relief. I stayed a very satisfied customer for about six months and then finally decided to join the company myself. Even three+ years later, I still consider it one of the best decisions I ever made.
2.What does a typical day look like as in the like of someone who runs their own business?
As with most positions, the idea of a “typical” day doesn’t really get you very far, but, with Plexus we often talk about the nooks and crannies of life. The life circumstances for ambassadors vary as much as you can imagine, but most all of us have the goal of not being a slave to a scheduled job forever, so whether we’re a SAHM trying to earn a few extra bucks for the family, already living a life of leisure because we’ve hit the top of the ranks, or –like me—still working a JOB while building a business on the side, we’ve all got other things to focus on besides our business. But the beauty of what we do is that we can literally do it any time or any place, whenever we’ve got a spare half an hour to spare. So much of what we do can be done from our phones, whether that’s reaching out to contacts, watching training videos, or sharing information on social media, we really can squeeze it in whenever our lives allow. As an example, it’s almost midnight as I write this, dear husband has gone to bed, and this is my me time. Tonight, I’m focusing on some Plexus business for the next 30 minutes or so before I head off to bed.
3 What attributes does someone need to have in order to be really successful in this position?
The single most important thing that you need to succeed with Plexus is a true desire to help others. There are other attributes that help, of course: being comfortable talking to people, familiarity with today’s technology and social media, adaptability, determination, self-motivation. But really, if your underlying goal is always to help someone, and if you’re willing to keep trying to do that one thing, no one will be able to keep you from succeeding.
4.What are the biggest challenges that someone in this position would face?
Network marketing gets a bad rap from a lot of people who just don’t understand its inherent benefits to both the marketer and the customer. Because of that, you can face some resistance from your friends and family, maybe even some alienation from people who just won’t get on board with your dreams. But, as T Swift so eloquently put it, haters gonna hate! Thankfully, those folks are usually in the minority. But even without the haters, there will still be plenty who just don’t get what you’re doing or why, and feeling like you don’t have the support of your loved ones can definitely be challenging.
5.What did you do before you started your business?
Well, I’m still working the day job, so I still have a full-time position as a certified paralegal.
6. Please tell us about your business, the products you offer?
Plexus offers a range of natural supplements to help people maintain their health. Many folks only think about our famous “pink drink”, which is great for keeping health glucose metabolism and giving you a sustained natural energy to get through the day, but we’ve also got products that focus on restoring gut health, providing relief from muscle aches and other forms of discomfort, aiding with weight loss, and creating overall general well-being. And, for anyone looking to start their own business, products that work and a compensation plan that’s second to none go hand-in-hand to give you the foundation you need for success.
7. What is your favorite part about working from home?
As I mentioned earlier, I haven’t yet left behind the regular workaday world, but I can tell you that one of the things I’m most looking forward to is getting rid of the commute!
8. What can you tell me about your new products or plans for growth?
Our Plexus executives are great about making sure they take the time necessary to implement changes in a positive way for both ambassadors and customers. Next year we will be expanding our presence in Canada, and they are exploring other international options. (Besides the U.S., we’re currently available in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.) And our most recent product was just launched in October— XFactor Kids, an amazing multivitamin and probiotic all combined into a chewable tablet so your kids can easily get their daily dose of healthy!
9. What do you feel is your greatest sales accomplishment and when/why did it happen?
I don’t really think I have a “greatest sales accomplishment”, but I do love it when I get messages from friends thanking me for introducing them to Plexus.
10.How do you balance client expectations versus real expectations? How do you handle it when they are too high?
One of the biggest misconceptions about Plexus is that we’re just a weight loss company, which just isn’t true. Sure, we’ve got a few products that are specifically intended to help with losing weight, but mostly we’re about restoring a more natural balance to your body and allowing weight loss to be a natural byproduct of improved health. Sometimes people are looking for the quick fix for dropping those extra pounds, but I just remind them that they didn’t gain all their weight (or any of their other health challenges) overnight and they won’t get rid of them that way, either. But that’s why Plexus offers a 60 day money back guarantee on all our products, so you have the time to use them and honestly evaluate their effectiveness in your particular situation.
11. Pretend I’m a prospect and give me an example of a pitch of a product or service you are selling.
Our most popular combo pack is the TriPlex (Slim, ProBio 5, BioCleanse), and it’s easy to see why. With its focus on three of the primary issues impacting overall health—glucose metabolism, gut health, and inflammation—it’s a set of products that can benefit literally everyone. It’s like this, you don’t have to be diabetic for blood sugar levels to affect you; just think about those afternoon slumps that have you rushing to the snack machine for a little pick-me-up, all because you got a high rush of glucose after lunch and then the accompanying crash as your blood sugar starts dropping again. Plexus Slim helps keep you stable all day without that afternoon slump. And, unless you’ve never had an antibiotic, or eaten processed foods, or any of a million other things that come with everyday life these days, the bacteria in your gut is out of balance between good & bad bacteria, and to go along with it, you’ve probably got some ongoing inflammation in your body. Our ProBio 5 and BioCleanse will help you rebalance your gut bacteria and flush out the excess bad stuff to start letting your body operate the way it was meant to. You’ll be amazed at the difference you’ll feel once you let these three go to work. It’s the ultimate gut trifecta—remove, restore, and rebalance your body.
12. How do you keep up to date on your target market?
My target market is anyone who isn’t as healthy as they’d like to be, and, unfortunately, those people are all too easy to find these days, whether you’re working with them in the office, or seeing them at neighborhood events, or following their lives on social media. And I’m not talking just about big health issues, but even smaller things like daily stress or not getting the proper nutritional balance in your diet. Folks who suffer from such imbalances are everywhere, but the good thing is that more and more people are wanting to take back control of their own health, and Plexus helps them to do that.
13. Tell Us about your company, how it started, products you offer.
Plexus launched back in 2008, a small company whose primary focus was on breast health. A little over a year later, our amazing pink drink, Plexus Slim, came into the picture and things took off from there. We now offer 18 different products for general nutritional supplementation, weight loss, and personal care. Oh, and we still offer our original product, the Breast Chek Kit, designed to aid in early detection efforts in the battle against breast cancer.
14. What is the best seller of your products?
In terms of individual products, certainly our Slim, but TriPlex is our most popular combo.
15. How do you feel your product or services can benefit others?
Like I said before, the world we live in today creates a circumstance where everyone is exposed to unhealthy conditions that are taking a toll on our health. And literally everyone needs regulated glucose levels and a healthy gut to live their healthiest life possible.
16. What are some of your favorite questions to ask a potential client or customer?
Obviously, as someone selling health and wellness products, I ask what their health challenges are and what their health goals are. I also like to know how they’ve tried to address those issues previously, what sort of worked and what didn’t. And, it’s not so much that I like to ask this next question, as it’s just important to know: how often and how easily do you poop? You’d be surprised how much a good poop—or lack thereof—can tell you about how healthy a person might be!
17. What roll does Social media play in your selling process?
It’s pretty big, because that’s how people communicate these days. You have to put your message where the people are. My 2018 plans include growing a Facebook page for easier interaction with those looking for more information, as well as launching a blog.
18. How do you handle irate clients/customers?
I had enough of those in my previous job to last a lifetime! Thankfully, I don’t have that any more.
19. Whats worse not reaching a goal every month or not having happy customers?
Unhappy customers for sure. I’m a firm believer that if you’re conducting your business in such a way that customers are happy, the goals will eventually take care of themselves.
20. If you were a potential client/customer what would you want to hear about your business, products or services.
I’d want to know that our products are made from natural, plant-based ingredients that have been proven effective and that we’re conducting more and more clinical trials on our products. I’d want to know that the person I was buying from believed in the products enough to use them herself daily (which I certainly do!). And, I’d want to know that the company so believes in these products that they’re willing to let you try them risk-free for 60 days.
21. Do you have a website? if so please post it
22. Do you have photos of products so others can view what you offer? yes
23. Please tell us anything you feel is important for others to know about your business or services. Feel free to share any information that might would help others decide to join you or purchase from you.
One of the most amazing things about Plexus is the feeling that those at the top are genuinely interested in helping others, both the ambassadors and the customers. Of course it’s a business, but there’s a way to run a business that makes people feel like people instead of faceless numbers, and our leadership definitely does that. And because it’s genuine at the top, it rolls down to the entire organization. We like to say we’re “oneplexus”, and it really does feel that way. Many years ago I was involved in a different direct selling company and it was so different, very much every man for himself. Plexus isn’t that at all, and I love being part of a group of caring, supportive people that makes “business” feel like a huge extended family.
24. How can someone contact you if they are interested in a service or product you offer?
The easiest way to reach me is through email, cheri@getintothepink.com
25. Is there anything else you would like to add about your business, services or products?
It’s easy to listen to someone talk about Plexus and get the idea that we believe our products are some kind of miracle cure to everything that ails you, and I just want to assure you that I know it’s not that simple. But I also know that hundreds of thousands of people are living better, healthier lives because of these products, so I’d hate for anyone to just write us off without a thought. Even if you’ve tried everything else and nothing has worked for you, it doesn’t mean that nothing ever will. Be willing to at least consider Plexus. With our product guarantees, you really don’t have anything to lose. And, what if this really could change everything?
