I would like to share a Gardening Self-Help book with you this morning called Growing Flowers: Everything You Need to Know About Planting, Tending, Harvesting and Arranging Beautiful Blooms (Flower Gardening for Beginners) by Niki Irving (Author). I received a copy of the book in exchange for this review. Inside this post is my affiliate links. If you click on the links and make a purchase I will make a small percentage from the items you purchase.
I remember as a child helping not only my mom’s mom plant flowers but my dads mom as well. When Charlie was little we would go to the Nursery and pick out flowers to plant. Charlie always knew what we wanted before we arrived at the Nursery including one time when only pick flowers would do.
Finally in our Mobile Home all the kids grew up and David said I could plant Flowers. I purchased climbing Rose Bushes with other flowers for the yard. But the LORD had other plans for us and we moved. I brought all of my plants down to my mother in law including the Rose Bushes we re-planted.
We moved into our Townhome and I thought my gardening days was done but the LORD blessed us with a front porch back porch and a balcony to decorate. I have a small Garden outside and now that they’ve taken the Bushes up I can grow my garden even more. I can’t wait to get started and Charlie is waiting to go to Walmart’s with me to pick out more flowers. Would you like to come with us?
Before we go to the store Charlie and I will be reading Growing Flowers so we get the right flowers not only for the front porch but the back porch as well. Then I will be sharing my book with my best friend Debbie who is wanting to get Flowers for her porch but knows nothing about gardening and would like mine and Charlies help but isn’t one to listen to anyone so having the book to refer to will keep arguments down.
I wish you could see the beautiful flowers on the cover of the book that would make a pretty arrangement for my mother in laws table and describes Summer to a T. Charlie and I use our book to decorate our Coffee Table with because it’s so pretty. I love how the Author reminds us to get to know our Climate.
Then she goes over how to lay out a garden plot because most times I never think about these things and just do and sit down in front of the spot I want to plant flowers or plants in and start planting. We learn what tolls we need and how composting works which would have been a great homeschool lesson for Charlie.
In the back of the book is a Plant Hardness Map and I am in Texas and shows me what to do. There is a list of resources for us to check out as well. The picture of Tools Charlie and I printed out and labeled what we would like to have and started a Amazon wish list so people could purchase these items for us because we don’t need school supplies we need gardening supplies.
There is a Fall Garden Chore list Charlie and I will be working on this year. Would you like to help us? We learned about cover crops which Charlie can now teach his grandmother about. As you can see there is so much to learn about gardening that I hope you pick up a copy of this book for yourself and any gardeners you may know.
