I would like to share a new children’s book called Grandpa Hugs written by Laura Neutzling Illustrated by Cee Biscoe
I can’t say everyone who has lost there grandparents misses there grandpa hugs but I do. I also know Charlie misses my dad’s hugs even though Charlie still has David’s dad and Charlie loves him. David Sr. doesn’t like hugging people and he doesn’t like saying I love you. Even though I grew up with hugs and I love you’s..
When I saw Grandpa Hugs I thought it might make Charlie said but Charlie said the book didn’t bother him because he know both of his grandparents love him. Which is true and the perfect way to remember my dad.
Charlie and I discussed the cover on the book and how the little Rabbit was riding on the big Rabbit’s shoulder. Charlie said I don’t remember my grandparents doing this but my dad did a lot. I let Charlie know he was right.
As we opened the book up Charlie said you know mom I do remember both my grandparent’s coming to the park with me. Although, I don’t remember having a Picnic with them. With my dad gone and David Sr’s health failing I want to make sure Charlie spends as much time with his pa as he can.
I plan on putting together a Picnic to surprise Charlie with this week and inviting his grandparents down to the park for dinner. I just PRAY Charlie’s grandparents will come and Charlie isn’t disappointed. I would like to ask you to come but this time I’m keeping the event strictly for our family.
I would like to invite you, your friends and family to read Grandpa Hugs even if you do not have a Grandpa in your life because this new book will remind you how important families are and why we should spend time with them.
Grandpa Hugs is like a soft cover board book for infants, newborns and children of all ages. I can even see adults enjoying the story and getting caught up in the pictures. Like I did with the Elephant who I wanted to bring home.
