OKTOBERFEST LAGER from Von Trapp is another beer David was able to sample through the Beer Basket he received from GourmetGiftBaskets.com in the Fall Seasonal Beer Bucket in exchange for a review and a spot in last years Christmas Gift Guide. The thoughts in this review are all mine and my families no, one else. I hope you learn about this new beer and that you take the time to check out this new beer. If you have tried this new beer what did you think of it and why? If you haven’t tried it would you want to and why?
David is so funny at times when something catches his eye he may or may not want to open it and use it, and it is what happened when he came upon this new beer.
Charlie and David liked the label a lot. If it were like wine they would have put it in the wine cabinet and David wouldn’t have tried it. David loved the color of the label and the name of the beer. Plus he enjoyed seeing the Ram on the bottle. Charlie didn’t want David to open it as it is his favorite color of blue.
Once David did open it he asked me if I would like to try it out as well. At first, I said no, as I am not a beer drinker, but I knew David wanted me to try it. So I took a sip, and I was surprised by the taste, and I would drink this new beer because it wasn’t overpowering. David liked that it had a light feeling of Carmel and also Toffee as these are two of his favorite flavors.
I thought it might turn me off as I do not care for Carmel although I do like Toffee sometimes. But neither flavor would keep me from trying this beer in the Future, and I would even purchase it for our friends when we host get-togethers. I can see my purchasing more of this beer for David for Christmas or Fathers Day.
OKTOBERFEST LAGER 5.6% ABV 35 IBU
The Bronze Medalist at the Great International Beer Festival and Attitash Oktoberfest “Best Brew Award” in both 2015 and 2016.
Oktoberfest brewed with a blend of light and dark Munich Malts, which not only adds to its depth but delivers a residual sweetness. Carmel and toffee notes linger but are balanced by the subtle hops additions in this beer. We use Hallertau and Tettnang hops which adds a floral yet peppery aroma to this beer. It’s our take on this traditional fest beer.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
