We are preparing for Homeschooling. David and I are rearranging the rooms in our Home to accommodate the schooling we will do doing on a daily basis. I would like to introduce you to Goliath & Tucker Games.
Once again the office is getting moved and as of now, I am not sure how it will be set up. Nor, do I even know where David is thinking about putting my office or if I will even have a place to work.
All of this also affects our Family Game Night which we us the office/ dining room for playing games at the moment. Unless we move outside to the deck which would be fine when it’s pretty. But what would happen if it’s cold or raining? The Board Games would get ruined. I wouldn’t want that to happen.
David let me know he is turning my Master Bedroom and Bathroom into a Gym and Science class. Building an area outside for Soccer and putting together a Garden. I am packing up Board games I don’t think we would use to make room for games from Goliath & Tucker. I have 4 new Board Games for school next year.
Along with the movies, we have accumulated which we are going through. I was working hard to catch up on emails and reach out to companies for supplies we could use in our classroom.
The next items we need are 5th Grade Workbooks, Art Supplies, and products we can use in our Science class. Along with Exercise Equipment.
I received an email from Goliath and Tucker who we are partnering with to bring new Board Game to our readers.
I went to there Goliath website. I found quite a few games I knew would be perfect not only for our Homeschooling classes but also for Family Game Night which I would like to start inviting our neighbors over to play games and have snacks.
I would like to announce Goliath and Tucker sent me the following games Rummikub, Sequence, Make 7, and also WordSearch in exchange for a review on my website. I would like to remind you the thoughts in this review are all mine and my friends and family no, one else.
Rummikub
I was looking through the website I picked out games which would fit into our Homeschooling classes although there were plenty of games I wanted to pick out to have fun and play.
Charlie deserves to have some time to veg and be a child. What better way than spending time with our friends and family? Spending time playing Board Games.
The first game I picked out was Rummikub. I chose Rummikub because Rummikub allows us to use items shaped like Dominos. My family enjoys playing Dominoes.
I also liked the different colors on the playing pieces and the cute faces. Charlie said he thinks the pieces will be comfortable to hold and they will be able to stand up on the stand.
Rummikub is for children 8+ which is the perfect age for our family. Charlie is turning 11 this year. My family liked finding out Rummikub is one of the most popular games of all times.
I love how Rummikub can be played in so many ways. I can even see using Rummikub the pieces to create math problems to use in our Math class.
About
Here are some facts that not many know
- Rummikub is also known as the Original Rummikub
- To win Rummikub one must use up all of his/her tiles by putting out runs or groups, or adding on to other player’s sets.
- Rummikub contains 106 tiles numbered from 1 to 13, that are in four different colors that are generally red, black, yellow or orange and blue and two jokers.
- Rummikub has been a popular game for over 50 years and has won six ‘game of the year’ awards during that time.
- A fun way to learn Math
- Holland has won the most World Rummikub Championships, winning the championships three times.
There are 18 editions of Rummikub put out by Lemada Light Industries, the manufacturers of Rummikub
As soon as I saw Sequence and you use chips and cards I knew David and Charlie would enjoy playing Sequence a lot. I can see a lot of laughter and almost cheating and a little bit of fussing with Sequence .
All in good-natured fun Charlie and David can race to see who can get to five first. In a way, Sequence reminds me of the Card Game War. I can’t wait to play Sequence not only with Charlie and David but our family.
- Play a card from your hand, and place a chip on a corresponding space on the game board – when you have five in a row, it’s a Sequence
- Each player or team tries to score the required number of five-card sequences before their opponents
- Exciting gameplay develops STEM skills like strategy
I showed David Make 7, he let me know Make 7 reminded him of Connect 4. I agreed with David. Although I also thought of Battleship which is a game Charlie hasn’t played.
I need to look into purchasing Battleship for our game collection. Then Charlie came in, and he said he had seen different varieties of Make 7 and was excited to sit down and play Make 7 with David and me.
I asked Charlie which class he thinks Make 7 would be good for, and Charlie let me know for Math class. As well as art because Charlie said he can use the items inside this game to create new and unique pictures.
Charlie mentioned his friend Diego would be able to play Make 7 because he is 7. The game tells us Make 7 is for children 7 and up. Even though Charlie is 11 he does have friends that are younger and we have something new to do with him.
I showed Charlie how you could only have a 3 in a red square and he said we shouldn’t let his dad know this way we could beat his father. Which allowed me to go over cheating with Charlie and why we wouldn’t want to do that and how he would feel if someone did it to him. Then we talked about the shapes of the squares and the different colors, and he let me know he liked them a lot.
Players drop tiles into the grid
The first player to get tiles that add up to 7 wins
For two players ages 7 and up
Wordsearch!
The last game I chose was Wordsearch I picked out because Wordsearch will allow both David and Charlie to practice their spelling.
Along with me as I struggle at times with spelling as well. I liked knowing Wordsearch is a Multiplayer game for children 7+ and up as it’s the perfect age for children in our neighborhood to play.
I think Wordsearch! will be fun to play. We can remove peoples markers to create other words. I can hear Charlie and David fussing when I remove their tags. I know I will win because I am fantastic at Wheel of Fortune but by them being able to take my markers this will be anyone’s game, and anyone can win at any given time.
