Where and When the Maya Flourished
Thousands of years ago, not one human lived in all of North or South America. Then, around 15,000 B.C., the first people arrived from Asia. Slowly, they traveled south, and some settled in parts of Mexico, Central America, and South America. Later, they became known as the Maya.
Microbes in Extreme Environments
In 1967, about 100 microbes hitched a ride inside a TV camera on a Moon probe. They lived through the fiery launch. Then they survived the vacuum of outer space, radiation, and freezing temperatures. They had no food, water, or energy source!
