From as far back as I can remember I have always taken my children to the library in the Summer to sign up for Free Summer Reading Programs they host each Summer. After I finish signing the kids up I also sign myself up because I want to show the kids I read. The other day to get us registered we visited the Haltom City Library.
We left the library, I brought home a list of other libraries offering Free Summer Reading Programs. If it’s possible, I plan on signing Charlie and myself for those Free Summer Reading Programs as well. Now, I would like to invite you to join us in the Free Summer Reading Programs
We returned home, I let Charlie know every evening he has to turn his game off no, later than 10:00 pm. Then Charlie must read for at least 30 minutes a night. Let me tell you Charlie isn’t happy about turning the electronics off each evening, but I think spending this time reading will help improve Charlies reading skills.
This week I have chosen to read Danielle Steel novel Against All Odds. Charlie has chosen Diary of A Wimpy Kid Double Down published by Jeff Kinney to read this week.
I’m glad Charlie chose Diary of A Wimpy series because there are enough books that it will keep Charlie reading all Summer long.

Junie B Jones Reading Club – Sign up and get a FREE starter Kit that includes a copy of Junie B Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus, Activity sheets and a membership ID card while supplies last.
Sylvan Book Adventure – offers this FREE reading incentive program. Your child reads books and then takes a simple comprehension quiz to make sure they understood what they read. The exam is usually about ten questions long. They earn points based on how much they remember from reading the book.
There are hundreds of books to choose from in all reading levels. These are typical books found at your local library. Once they have earned enough points, they can trade them in for some neat prizes!
Showcase Cinemas Bookworm Wednesdays – Your child can earn a FREE movie ticket from National Amusements Theaters when they read a book and complete a book report.
Barnes & Noble Imagination Destination – This summer reading program through Barnes & Noble gives your child the ability to earn a FREE book after reading eight books and keeping track of them in a reading log.
Local Public Library – Don’t forget to check out your local libraries to find out which programs they’ll be offering this Summer. Charlie has participated in Summer reading Programs through the library, and they always includes FREE books & prizes.
Chuck E. Cheese – Earn FREE tokens every time your child reads. Print out the bookmarks which are each worth 5 FREE tokens and bring it in to claim your free tokens.
Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge – Log in your reading minutes to the Scholastic site, and your child will be able to participate in a World Record challenge as well as earn digital prizes!
Six Flags Read to Succeed – K-6 students who complete six hours of non-school-related reading approved by their parents and teachers are eligible for free admission to their nearest theme park.
