Four Ways to Style Leggings This Fall
Many say that fall is their favorite time of year. Fall brings many great things, such as the changing colors, holidays, and pumpkin everything. But for many females, it is also the cooler weather and the fashion that comes with it. Each year brings new popular styles, colors, and choices. Although, year after year, one style has remained at the top of the list for girls, tweens, and women. Leggings are a fan-favorite, and for a good reason. Leggings are great for all ages because of their incredible versatility. They can be worn as regular pants, with layers, for exercise, lounging around the house, and as part of a smart-casual outfit. To help, we have planned four ways for you to style leggings this fall. From shine leggings with tie-dye, stars, or hearts, it is no wonder people reach for leggings every fall. Whether it’s which tunics, a plaid flannel, mini skirt, or sweater vest, your leggings will be an option you will want to reach for almost every time you get dressed.
1. Wear a Tunic on Top
Tunic tops have a surprisingly long history dating back to medieval times. Tunics started as a piece worn by both men and women. Today, tunic tops are typically worn by women and are longer than a standard shirt, with most reaching between the hip and knee, making them shorter than an everyday dress. Based on your choice, tunics can be sheer, sleeveless, or long-sleeve. We love fall tunics because they can make an excellent layering piece regardless of your style. Pair your tunic with a pair of shine leggings to make them a more appropriate length, allowing you to wear tunics to work or school. For cooler weather, pair your tunic with a cardigan or jean jacket. Layering your tunic is an excellent option for fall, as you can dress them for the changing weather. Suppose you live in an area where fall brings exceptionally cool weather. In that case, choosing a long-sleeve or sweater tunic is a fashionable option that will still look adorable with shine leggings.
2. Pair with Plaid
We love a good plaid flannel shirt for fall. They are soft, comfortable, and another versatile piece for fall. Plaid flannel shirts are easy to find and widely available in stores’ men’s and women’s sections. We love to buy plaid flannels in all different colors but opt for a size larger than we would typically choose. A larger size makes them extra cozy and provides a little extra length in the back for pairing with shine leggings. Throw a basic white t-shirt or a fun graphic tee underneath for a casual look. Add a pair of under-the-knee fall boots, casual tennis shoes, or sandals to complete this outfit. If it warms up in the afternoon, take off the plaid flannel and tie it around your waist for an additional fun look. When paired with a plaid flannel, it is basically like getting two looks for one.
3. Do Not Put Away That Mini Skirt
When the seasons change, many women assume it is time to put away their mini skirts. But that is just not true! Wear your mini skirts into fall by pairing them with shine leggings underneath. Adding leggings to your look will not only provide some extra warmth while the weather cools down, but it also helps you wear pieces to work or school that may be slightly too short without them otherwise. If pairing a plaid mini skirt with shine leggings, choose an option that is solid in color but still matches. Add a basic t-shirt or button-up shirt on top (think early Britney Spears), and throw on some boots for the ultimate fall outfit. Still feeling chilly? Throw on a cardigan or jacket to compliment the overall look. If you are wearing a more basic mini skirt, choose a pair of shine leggings in a neon color, fun pattern, or even a couple with a glitter option to brighten your look!
4. Go Casual With a Sweater Vest
If you are looking for a great option to wear with easy and comfortable leggings, this may be the fall look for you. Start with a long-sleeved t-shirt – this can be any t-shirt you already have in your closet that checks the box for extremely comfortable. With your t-shirt, throw on a zip-up sweater vest. Our favorite options for sweater vests are neutral colors, as you pair them with any different pattern or color. Then, throw on your shine leggings and a pair of tennis shoes to complete the look. This option can be worn almost anywhere and looks great on everyone.
We know that leggings are not considered to be actual pants, but that does not mean you can not easily rotate them into your wardrobe this fall. Whether you are shooting for a more casual look or looking for something befitting and structured for work, leggings are easy to incorporate for comfort or to express a bit more of your personality with a fun look.
