I would like to introduce you to a new children’s book Forever Home: A Dog and Boy Love Story written by Henry Cole which I received in exchange for this review.
I was so surprised when I opened up Forever Home: A Dog and Boy Love Story to read the story and there were no, words just illustrations. Through the illustrations we could still follow the story and know what was happening through the pictures that kept us on our toes.
Unlike the child in the book Charlie does have a Dog or three and yes, we got one of the the dogs mine from the Animal Shelter which was the best thing we ever did. I love how just having pictures and no, words allows us to create many different stories about the dog and things he and the boy might do together.
Seeing how the parents teach the boy responsibility without words or even getting upset with him touched my heart. I believe more parents could do this if they would take lessons from the parents in this book. Through the story Charlie was reminded how much work a pet can be. Along with what all we should do with our dogs no, matter what kind of Weather we have. Forever Home: A Dog and Boy Love Story reminded Charlie. David and I that pets need love to.
About:
A heart-tugging story about an abandoned dog who is looking for a forever home — and a boy who finds him!
★ “An exquisitely rendered, touching story of companionship and belonging.” – Kirkus Reviews, starred review
★ “This sweet and touching story will prove a worthy addition to any collection.” – School Library Journal, starred review
There is a dog that no one wants. Abandoned and afraid, he must use his wits to survive the City’s streets. Sadly, no one comes for him.
Meanwhile, not far away, there is a boy who wants a dog more than anything in the world. But his room is a mess. He needs to help more around the house. And his parents tell him he must learn to be more responsible. Little does the boy know, there is a dog nearby longing for a forever home and someone to love him. And that dog has his eye on our boy!
Henry Cole masterfully weaves together two tender storylines that result in a heart tugging wordless picture book that celebrates love, kindness, and compassion for animals.
