Welcome to our series sharing Food Holidays: October National Caramel Month which David loves and Charlie and I tolerate in some Candy Bars bars. But most of the time Charlie and I would pass on Caramel unlike Suzzane who loved Caramel. How about you?

One of the simplest pleasures in life is sinking your teeth into a piece of Caramel. October not only signifies the return of baked goods but Halloween Candy, and it’s also National Caramel Month. We’ve compiled a few reasons we love this treat, and shared ideas that will help you celebrate all month long. We don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to get our hands on a piece of this ooey gooey goodness.

NATIONAL CARAMEL MONTH ACTIVITIES

  1. Learn how to make Caramel with only three basic ingredients, you can master a Caramel. All you need to do is search online for Caramel recipes, or you can take a cooking class. Either way sure to impress family and friends the next time you show up with homemade Caramels!
  2. Few treats are as synonymous with the month of October as a Caramel Apple. Let your imagination run wild with the toppings you choose, although, we must say Classic Caramel and Crushed Peanut is a tried and true favorite.
  3. Do you know anyone who is celebrating a Birthday, or Anniversary, in the month of October? If so, why don’t you deliver a Caramel-themed Gift basket as a thoughtful and festive gesture? Inside the basket you can add Caramel Popcorn, Caramel Cake, Caramel Sundae topping.

  1. Caramel was a candy staple for Immigrants because of the affordable ingredients used.
  2. Before Milton Hershey ever began producing his famous Chocolate Candy bars he was known for making Caramels.
  3. All of the fun isn’t just reserved for the month of October. Did you know you can also celebrate National Caramel Day on April 5.
  4. The English word for Caramel is derived from the French and Spanish word “caramelo.”
  5. The cooking processes for Caramel Candies and Caramel used for Apples differ.

WHY WE LOVE NATIONAL CARAMEL MONTH

  1. Melted Caramel, can be drizzled over Cakes, Brownies, or Cupcakes to take desserts to a completely new level. We can’t forget to mention how delicious a Caramel Sundae is. Caramel is a great addition to Cake Frosting. We wouldn’t want to leave out Caramel Fudge.
  2. Some of the most basic recipes for Caramel call for Sugar, Cream, and Butter. The Cooking process can be a little bit tricky, but with practice, you’re sure to get the hang of it.
  3. We can’t forget to mention one of the main reasons to love Caramel: Its delicious and Caramel is a satisfying treat any time of year, but there is just something about the rich and creamy taste that signifies the beginning of fall.
