Bisque is made with Shellfish and originated back in the 17th Century. At that time, people were not very fond of such Soups, and because of this, Seafood Bisque did not get much hype. But after some alterations made by adding spicy Herbs to the Soup, people went crazy for Seafood Bisque.
Bisque is derived from Biscay, in the particular Bay of Biscay. Yet, the crustaceans are known as bis cuites which means ‘twice cooked.’ It is mainly an analogy referred to as a Biscuit. And this refers to the bisque being cooked twice.
This is so because at first, they are sautéed minimally in their shells, and with the help of Wine and scented ingredients, they are festered before they are strained, and at the end, Cream is added into it. In other words, the word ‘Bisque’ is also referred to as a smooth, creamy Soup of French origin.
Seafood Bisque is served along with a chunk of Bread which gives the Soup an elegant taste. Seafood Bisque is made from Seafood including Lobster, Shrimp, Crab, Crayfish, etc. A bowl of Soup which is made with the spiciness of rich flavors!
