Welcome to our series sharing Food Holidays : June 30th, 2022. Did you know I’m actually a day late it’s really July 1st. Man did June fly by making today my mom’s birthday. I wish she was here to celebrate with but since she isn’t I will have a Mai Tai by myself unless you want to go with me. Although if my mom were here she would say we should have a Strawberry Daiquiri so I will let you choose which drink we have today.
- The Zombie was the Cosmopolitan of its day and the Zombie was the drink that put Tiki on the map.
- In 1959 the Mai Tai knocked the Zombie off its pedestal.
- 1959 is the the year Hawaii became a State.
- Hawaii became a tourist mecca almost overnight.
- All the tourists went to Luaus and they were offered a Fruity drink called the Mai Tai.
