Food Facts About Almonds:
- There are 5,639 people in the U.S. listed on white pages.com with the last name ‘Almond’.
- Chocolate manufacturers use 40% of the worlds Almonds (2008).
- California produced 998 million pounds of Almonds in 2004 and the largest crop on record was in 2002, with 1.084 billion pounds.
- It takes more than 1.2 million Bee hives to pollinate California’s Almond crop (over 550,000 acres). Can you imgaine that?
- Chocolate manufacturers currently use 40 percent of the world’s Almonds and 20 percent of the world’s Peanuts.
Ingredients:
- ¾ cup Butter
- 2 cups white Sugar
- 1 cup chopped Almonds
- 2 cups milk Chocolate Chips
- ½ cup finely chopped Almonds
Instructions:
- Step 1 In a saucepan over low heat, combine the Butter, Sugar and 1 cup chopped Almonds. Stir constantly until mixture boils, then do not stir or shake. Heat to 300 to 310 degrees F (149 to 154 degrees C), or until a small amount of Syrup dropped into cold Water forms hard, brittle threads.
- Step 2 Pour onto a large Buttered cookie sheet. Immediately press Chocolate Chips onto the hot Candy. As the Chocolate melts, spread it into a coating over the Candy.
- Step 3 Sprinkle finely chopped Almonds over the top; cool, and break into uneven pieces.
