It’s mid-Winter and the Snow and cold seems like it will never come to an end. Spring seems so far away.

Were all stuck in a mid-Winter funk, and if you’re like me then you’re suffering from cabin fever, it’s time to do something, quirky.

Lets eat ice cream for breakfast!!!

According to legend and this Holiday’s creator, today is a day to:

1. Spread the word about this Holiday.

2. Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast.

To get the full excitement of this Holiday, tell the kids what’s going to happen a few days before the day arrives. The anticipation will lift their spirits and help make Winter go by just a little quicker.

History and Origin of Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day:

This Holiday was created out of sheer Winter boredom in the 1960s. A mom in Rochester, NY. decided it was time to give her kids something to look forward to, other than another day of gray skies and Snowfall. She created this Holiday with her two young boys. It sure did the trick, if only for a little while.

Our research did not find any documentation supporting this as an International Day. However, should it come up to a vote, I would vote for it.

National Shower with a Friend Day– Always February 5th.

Be a Conservationist save water. Today is National Shower with a Friend Day which could be one of the more memorable Holiday celebrations of the year.

In early February, it’s cold and Snowy, with long hours of darkness. Winter is getting a little old, yet there are weeks to go before spring arrives. Life in February can be simply boring. It’s a blah and depressing time. Then,  National Shower with a Friend Day comes along, in time to liven up an otherwise dreary day. As this Holiday nears, just the thought of showering with a friend brings a smile to your face, and makes you feel warm all over.

Who will you shower with this year? Will it be the same person as last year, or someone entirely new? We make no suggestions, leaving this decision up to you.

Technically, to participate in National Shower with a Friend Day, you have to take a shower. However, it is perfectly okay to take a bath with a friend today. You might even discover that taking a bath with a friend is even more fun than a shower.

History and Origin of National Shower with a Friend Day:

Rumors on the Internet suggest that this Holiday was created as a marketing scheme to sell shower filters. There are references to harmful effects of Chlorine on your skin while showering. Oddly, we found no manufacturer or retail company making claims to this Holiday, or any marketing program linked to this day.

National Shower with a Friend Day appears to have been created around 2016. Like other Holidays created in this time period, it is titled as a “National” day. We found not documentation in congressional records to confirm that this is truly a National Holiday.

National Weatherman’s Day-always held on February 5th.

National Weatherman’s Day honors Weathermen and woman who work hard to predict the local and National Weather. Despite major technological advances and supercomputers, forecasting the Weather can still be a tricky, and ever-changing business.

Knowing the Weather is important in many ways. IThe Weather affects how we dress, where we go, and even if we go. Space launches are made or delayed depending upon the Weather. Knowing the Weather can save your life.

According to the Air Force News, Weatherman’s Day “commemorates the birth of John Jeffries, one of America’s first Weathermen”. Jeffries was born on Feb 5th, 1744. John Jeffries kept Weather records from 1774 to1816.

If you see a Weatherman today, tell them thank you for always keeping us updated on the Weather.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
