Good morning, how are you? I don’t know about we are but here in Fort Worth we have Ice on the ground they are saying it might SNOW… I know most people would say no, not Snow but not me I love Snow and would like to have enough to go outside and build a Snow family but usually we get verry little Snow when we do get it. Which stinks..

Before the bad Weather hits I wanted to share our series for Food Holidays: February 23rd, 2022. Today is National Banana Bread and I wish I had Banana and Walnuts as I would ask Charlie to make us Banana Walnut Bread in his Homeschool Cooking Class. Would you like a slice with a glass of Milk?

National Banana Bread Day celebrates a pairing of Fruit plus bread. A few things are quite as comforting as walking into the house and smelling a freshly baked loaf of Banana Bread. Banana Bread is certainly a dessert staple in many households. Which is probably why so many of us have such a special place in our hearts for Banana Bread.

1. Banana Trees are considered giant Herbs, not ‘trees’ at all.

2. A cluster of Bananas is known as a hand. Each Banana are fingers

3. Did you know rubbing the inside of a Banana peel on bug bites may relieve itching and inflammation.

4. Over 95% of American households purchase a Banana at least once a month.

5. Bananas are one of the only Fruits harvested every day of the year. Bananas do not grow in regions that have dramatic seasonal changes.

NATIONAL BANANA BREAD DAY ACTIVITIES

  1. It’s hard to think of a more appropriate way to celebrate National Banana Bread Day than whipping up a loaf of Banana Bread.
  2. Round up a group of friends and ask everyone to bake their favorite Banana Bread recipe. Then, gather together to test out all the recipes.
  3. Research local nursing homes, Soup Kitchens, and other nonprofit organizations within your community that might benefit from home-cooked food donations then take them a loaf or two of Banana Nut Bread with and without Nuts.
