Family Can Surprise Us Sometimes

Family can surprise us sometimes and when they do it makes me miss my mother that much more. Here is what happened on Saturday at the American Legion Benefit Craft Show. For the past two weeks, Davids mom and I had been talking about the Event, and she had been helping me promote it. I knew it would be a great event and Sherry has always tried to come to anything I host. As my mother lived out of State before she passed away and couldn’t make it to the things I put on.

I knew Granny Sherry would come by the American Legion Craft Fair and bring Leslie my Step-Daughter. So I was working when she drove up and saw how hard I had worked she went home and started looking for the papers for David to join the American Legion and is going to pay for it. As his dad served our Country and my stepdaughter’s husband Toby is in the Army.

I had no clue she told David this until I went home that night, but it makes me feel so good to know she supports the things I do to help others. I can’t wait till we join the American Legion as I know her and my Father in Law will attend the events with us, and we may be able to get Leslie to participate as well.

As I was walking around, I look up, and my brother and dad came walking in to see what all I had done. Like my mother, my father had never attended any of the events I put on, and it meant the world to me for him to come up and walk around. My dad even asked if I was going to join the American Legion and if I did that he would also join so when he is in town visiting he can go up to the meetings with David and me.

Even though you might not think your family notices what you sometimes do they do and don’t say anything at all about it. Until one day you look up and there standing there watching you. All I can say about Saturday is I wish my mom had been at the event with us. As I genuinely missed her so much and I know she would have loved seeing all the Vendors and talking to them. She would have bought from each of the Vendors if she could have.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie, and David
