Charlie had David and I try out a new restaurant the other day when he was wanting Chicken. We stopped at El Pollo Loco in Hurst, Texas. I usually only eat Chicken if its Fried.
I said I would try El Pollo Loco because the chicken is Fire Grilled and would be healthier for our family. When we went inside the restaurant was so light and airy.
I liked the decorations and the staff was kind enough to tell us about the menu and there Rewards Program. David liked seeing they had a Rice drink he likes and Churro’s.
We ordered a Family Dinner and there was so much food that David had lunch the next day to take to work and there was still food left at home for Charlie and I.

I ordered the Salad which came in a Family Size. I had enough for that evening and two more meals because the guys didn’t eat any of the Salad. I liked the Ranch dressing it came with but it was packaged dressing not fresh.
I tried the Chicken and I liked the flavor and can’t wait to order it again. We got Breast which David likes. Chicken Legs for Charlie and I along with Thighs for me. Then there were Wings David took to work.

Our dinner came with Queso and Tortillas. David pulled the Chicken off the bone and made himself a wrap. Charlie made a meal of Chips, Tortilla’s and Queso which he liked a lot.

I tried the Queso as well but it was a tad bit to hot for me which was sad because I liked the flavor a lot. I did get a Tortilla though and they were very good.

I was so glad to find out they had Macaroni and Cheese as one of the sides because sometimes this is all Charlie will eat. Once Charlie tasted this he didn’t want to share with David and I. If we hadn’t had so much food I would have ordered a second container.
This Macaroni and Cheese was creamy and had just the right amount of Cheese. We liked finding out it wasn’t dry and that if any was left we would be able to rewarm this side dish and not hurt it.

A (very) Fresh take on tradition
What is L.A. Mex? It’s SoCal lifestyle meets Mexican heritage. It’s better-for-you choices like fire-grilled chicken and tradition-inspired temptations like Overstuffed Quesadillas. It’s burritos, taquitos and tacos with a fresh California Twist. It’s a menu that can meet any dietary need from paleo to vegetarian to straight out craving. Simply said, it’s L.A. active, it’s Mexican proud and it’s exactly what you’ll find at El Pollo Loco
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
