With my father coming here a couple of times a year to stay a week at a time he has decided he wants a car to keep here. This way if he wants to go somewhere he will be able to. Or if my families or my sister’s car isn’t working, we will have a car to drive while ours is getting fixed.
Before I could look for a car for my dad, I knew I would have a lot of questions because I haven’t personally purchased a vehicle. This morning I would like to give you some tips if you’re looking into buying a car for yourself or someone you know. Or you can share these tips with your friends and family as they might be shopping for a car.
I knew the most important thing to me would be safe especially if my dad has a wreck at his age. I decided to get David to sit down with me and research cars as we would be purchasing a used car and I knew we wanted a used car that hadn’t been wrecked.
David and I talked about the amount of money my dad wanted to spend. Then I let David know the car would need to be low to the ground, so my dad can get in and out of the car without any problems, and it would require a lot of storage space. My dad has to carry his Oxygen tank with him at all times.
I let David know my dad likes Mazda’s so David and I decided to research them to see how their resale value compared to other small cars. As well as what safety features Mazda comes with. Then we looked at the different style so we could decide which one would be the best for my dad as there are so many different styles.
Neither David or I was sure where to go and look for this information then I thought why not check out Google. I came upon a website called Cars.com. I looked through the website and found it offered all the resources we were looking for, and just from being on the site, I was able to tell it would give us the information we need to make the right purchasing decision for your family.
Another feature David and I liked was knowing Cars.com offers Videos and reviews on their website which made me more comfortable in deciding what I would need in a a car. The only thing I hated was my dad doesn’t have internet at his home so he wouldn’t be able to visit the website and check out the cars for himself. Although my brother did get online and he searched and sent me his choice of cars for my dad and then David and I went to see them, and we were able to purchase the best car for our family.
If this is your first time to purchase a car take the time to visit more than one dealership and to check out different cars because just because you think you know what you prefer once you start looking you might find a different choice or color or even a better price. Also, talk to different sales people to make sure you see one you’re comfortable with and that isn’t just telling you what you want to hear. As this does happen more and more.
I hope these tips help you out when purchasing a car and if you have tips that will help others out leave me a comment, and I will make sure and share them with my readers. As my goal is to educate my readers and with your help I know I can do this and stop people from being misinformed.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
