(DALLAS, TX) In the time of a pandemic, the word “thank you” can feel like an understatement for the sacrifices that frontline workers are making to preserve society’s day-to-day. However, sometimes, when a “thank you” is delivered by the right people: it can have a larger impact. This Friday, sixteen children’s and youth theaters throughout the country decided to do just that as a tribute to today’s heroes. The project titled So Many Heroes comes from young people to all of the frontline workers working to keep us safe.
The students participating from Dallas Children’s Theater Academy program are Kai McGhee, Jude Segrest, Jace Petrusas, and Lyra Novice. The students were accompanied by DCT Teaching artist Pamela McClain who served as musical director.
“What better way is there to extend thanks to our frontline workers than to have the future of our country say it,” says Nancy Shaeffer, Education Director of DCT. “Dallas Children’s Theater is truly honored to have so many of our wonderful students be a part of this project. I can say with certainty that despite the challenges we are facing right now, they are what motivate me to press forward. We are really proud of all of the young people that lent their talent to this well-deserved tribute.”
Led by Seattle Children’s Theatre’s Interim Artistic Director Kathryn Van Meter, the video is being released at the same time all across the country. Dallas Children’s Theater and the youth theater community offer this gift of solidarity and togetherness to all of those on the front lines.

About Dallas Children’s Theater
Dallas Children’s Theater features professional actors performing for an annual audience of 250,000 young people and their families through mainstage productions (9 in the 2019-2020 season), a national -touring company, and an arts-in-education program. As the only major organization in Dallas focusing solely on youth and family theater, DCT builds bridges of understanding between generations and cultures, instilling an early appreciation of literature, art, and the performing arts in tomorrow’s artists and patrons.
