As Young As You Feel Day held on March 22
There is going to be a day when you wake up and realize you’re not a kid anymore. You’ve noticed you’re acting more and more like your parents. You’re doing the things people your age are expected to do.
You may feel great, and certainly not as old as the age on your driver’s license. Which is why I wanted to share feel As Young As You Feel Day.
As Young As You Feel Day gives you the chance to change your attitude on life for the better…. much better. I hope Charlie takes note of this Holiday because his attitude stinks. Teenagers what can I say…
In early our childhood we look forward to getting older. We can’t wait for our birthday to arrive. As a teen we begin to look forward to being an adult and the freedom that it brings.
Then we Reach the legal drinking age which everyone can’t wait to celebrate. For most people they would say our twenties are the best years of our lives.
Your young, healthy, energetic, adventuresome, and you enjoy the benefits of early adulthood. Then we come to the end of our 20’s our 29th birthday and all of a sudden, we’re thinking “29 and holding”.
A age when many of us want to stay right here forever. Time continues relentlessly, and all of a sudden we reach that age when we begin to wish we were younger for a whole bunch of reasons including our health which may be changing. Or our children are growing up too fast.
Years march on they pile up and we begin to act and feel our age. We may no longer seek exciting and carefree activities. The behaviors of our youth are gone. We act the way we do, simply because we feel “That’s the way grownups are supposed to act”.
Age is just a number, nothing more isn’t that right:. Being a Centenarian is about chronological age. Being as young as you feel is not about these calendar benchmarks, it is a whole lot more.
It’s breaking the stereotype of how a person your age is supposed to behave. Take a look at former President George H. Bush, who is 90 years young. Did you know he parachuted out of an airplane. If President Bush can do that, certainly you can break the shackles of your age by going out and doing something exciting.
As Young As You Feel Day, it’s time to lose your inhibitions anything goes. Start wheedling off the task on your Bucket List. Don’t limit your behaviors to how people think you should behave. Do what makes you happy.
“Sixty is the new Forty”. That means 80 is the new 60. Today is the day to start doing the things that make you feel younger. For me being 57 isn’t the end of my life but the beginning and the time to create my bucket list and mark off the task on it.
Tom and Ruth Roy, are the creators of this day, and they got it right when they said “Now more than ever you are as young as you feel. So stop acting your chronological age and get out there and start feeling peppy.”
Movie of the Day: “As Young as you Feel“, a 1951 comedy starring Marilyn Monroe.
It’s also National Goof Off Day I can’t tell David that or he wouldn’t want to go to work this morning and Charlie wouldn’t want to do his school work. But if the truth was told I wouldn’t want to work either.
My sister is off this morning and if I could I would like to take the day off and go have lunch with her and then go walking. If you could do anything on National Goof Off Day what would you do and why?
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
