Homeschool Resource D.E.A.R. for Beverly Cleary’s 100th Birthday

DEAR-FB

Look at todays Homeschool Resource D.E.A.R. for Beverly Cleary’s 100th BirthdayI have loved the Beverly Cleary books since Suzzae was little. And I have always sat down and read them to Suzzane. And when my Nephew was little I also read them to him. And now that Charlie is here I used to read them to him when he was little.

And once in a while he will still let me. Or he will grab one and read it to me. But usually he says they are books for girls. Which is true to a degree I guess. But once I start to read them to Charlie. Or Charlie reads them to himself he gets lost in the story and forgets they might be for girls. But they are not and I would recommend them for everyone. So if you haven’t read them Please do and soon. As I would like to know what you thought of them.

And today I would like to let you know Charlie and I are joining in D.E.A.R. And here is a little bit about it….

Beverly Cleary, the  beloved award-winning author of some of the world’s favorite children books, first wrote about D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) in Ramona Quimby, Age 8.

This year? Beverly Cleary is turning 100 years old.

At the Read-Aloud Revival, we aren’t inclined to let such a day pass without doing it up right. 🙂Download the FREE Kit

We’ve made you a little something that will help you celebrate D.E.A.R. Day at home. It’s a collection of the best ideas to help you celebrate D.E.A.R. with us on Beverly Cleary’s 100th birthday!

Here’s how to celebrate D.E.A.R. day on April 12th:

1.) Download the FREE D.E.A.R. Whole Family Book Club Kit by popping your email into this form:

You’re gonna love it! 🙂 Please check your inbox to confirm your email address.

2.) Choose a few things from the kit to do in your home. This can be as simple as having graham crackers and apple juice for a snack (Ramona would approve, but only to a point!), or as elaborate as inviting your friends over for a full-on party. We’ve got ideas that run the gamut from super simple to more elaborate inside. You pick what fits your family and your schedule.

3.)  Drop Everything and Read with us at 12pm Pacific (3pm Eastern) on Tuesday, April 12th.  Take pictures of your kids and post them on Facebook or Instagram with both of these hashtags: #readaloudrevival and #RARdear. We’ll plaster the social media world with our reading kids’ posts on D.E.A.R. Day!

4.) Check out the Beverly Cleary Walking Tour. Our very own Kortney Garrison took pictures of the real tour so that you could take part virtually, even if you live nowhere near Portland Oregon! Click here to see the tour.

And now I would like to invite you to join Charlie and I in D.E.A.R. I just wish we had some Beverly Cleary books to read. But it doesn’t matter what we read as long as we read. So Charlie says he want’s to read his Fly Guy books. And I will read with Charlie and read my Wedding books I have been reading.

And I would like to ask if you are going to read with your children? Or are you going to read to them? Or let them read to themselves? And would you like to join Charlie and I for a snack as we will be having Graham Crackers and Apple Juice and we made sure and got enough to share with you.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
