Yesterday as I was helping Charlie with his homework I was having trouble reading what he was writing. I know this can be part of being Dyslexic and it isn’t going to help when Charlie has homework to turn in, and the teachers can’t read Charlie’s writing. So this morning as I was sitting here getting ready to work I was trying to figure out how I could help Charlie improve his handwriting.
I was trying to figure out what to do I decided to go through emails, and I found one from Kim from Write Shop. Kim has come up with some “Fall Writing Prompts” for us to use. This week I plan on getting Charlie a notebook and writing each “Fall Writing Prompt” in the notebook and once a day I will have Charlie sit down and write a story about the prompt.
Story Prompts will help Charlie improve his handwriting, help Charlie use Grammar in the right content. As well as practice his spelling as he still struggles with spelling a lot. Also, it will allow Charlie and I to spend time together, and we can even get David involved in the story as he can draw pictures for us and we can turn our prompts into a storybook.
I would like to invite you to check out Kim’s site Write Shop and to take a look at this week’s” Fall Writing Prompts” and let me know which prompt you liked the best. Once you’re done looking at this week’s prompts also check out her other post which is called ‘Writing Prompt Wednesdays” and see what all she has on there for us.
Hi, I’m Kim! At WriteShop, we love equipping and inspiring you to teach writing, even when it seems like an uphill battle. My fellow contributors and I invite you to poke around the blog, where you’ll find teaching tips, writing activities, and hope for reluctant writers.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
