Cowboys and Rodeos

The Mommies Reviews

Cowboys and Rodeos created by Alyn Robert Brereton is a beautiful coffee table book I received in exchange for this review. Check out the press release PRCA Photographer Who Started Third Career at 69 Publishes First Coffee Table Book.

Most people when there little back in my day wanted to run away to the CIRCUS but no, not me I have to be different I wanted to run away to the Rodeo. Why you might ask, and it was because of Bulls & Broncs and Clowns. As well as the food at the Rodeos. What more would I need? I even told my mom I was going t marry a COWBOY.

Before you ask me if I did marry a COWBOY no, I didn’t but I did date a Bronc Rider for a while and were still friends and David used to work the Rodeo with Edso I guess I did marry a COWBOY. The life moved on. I found the movie 8 Seconds and feel in love with Lane Frost and the saying Cowboy Up for Cowgirl Up with Keifer Sutherland and Molly Ringwald another movie I love.

The LORD blessed me this week when the Pres Release for Cowboys and Rodeos arrived. I was sent a copy of this beautiful picture book full or information and quotes from people I grew up with. Te book arrived and I felt like I had been reunited with a old friend I hadn’t seen in forever and ever.

I opened the book and began to thumb through it when I came to a quote from John Wayne my dad’s hero. I wish he had been here to look at the book with me. As I kept thumbing through the book, I thought of David’s Uncle Don who is a Western photographer and how he would like this book. I plan on picking a copy up for him for Christmas because he isn’t getting mine.

Then I came to a quote from “LANE FROST” and I feel in love with the book even more. I’ve always wanted a book or a T Shirt of his and the LORD answered my PRAYERs by sending me Cowboys and Rodeos. Charlie and I will be using this amazing book in our Homeschool studies when we study the Rodeo.

For a Field Trip we will be visiting the Fort Worth Stockyards, and the Fat Stock Show would you like to go with us. Along with a working ranch if I can find one. I had planned on sitting Cowboys and Rodeos on my Coffee Table for people to browse through but David and Charlie put it in a shadow box for me so it wouldn’t get messed up because a page of the book was torn when it arrived and David offered to purchase another copy for me, but I didn’t want David to. I wanted this book because I feel like the Author is speaking to me from it because every time, I open Cowboys and Rodeos I find something new I want to share with my family.

About:

The stunningly beautiful and vibrant photography in Cowboys and Rodeos showcases the allure and romance of cowboys, horses, and the Wild West while also portraying the grit, power, and gravity-defying action of rodeos, both in small venues and professional arenas.

Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) photographer Alyn Robert Brereton offers both the beauty and the dirt of the Western United States in Cowboys and Rodeos. This stunning coffee-table book is a piece of art, showcasing a working ranch in Northern California, horses, cattle, tack, boots, buckles, cowgirls, cowboys, and rodeos.

Brereton provides some information about the various rodeo events that are then highlighted with spectacularly timed photography that captures the skill, strength, courage, and bone-jarring rides of the cowboys and cowgirls. You will be awed at the rough-stock events―bareback bronc, saddle bronc, and bull riding―and how the cowboys stay on the animals, or not, shown in amazing images.

The timed events―steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping, barrel racing, and breakaway roping―require precision and finesse from both the riders and the photographer. And not to be forgotten are the bullfighters and clowns, mutton bustin’ little cowfolk, and other entertainment such as goat scrambles, trick-riding, and roping skills that are a part of rodeos and Western Americana.
