Come Visit the Microcar Museum
Good morning, Charlie and I was online this morning and I was going through my emails I came across once from ClickSchooling. ClickSchooling had another Virtual Field Trip inside it. So this week we will be visiting the Microcar Museum.
Now, I wasn’t sure what a Microcar was but I knew it had the word car in it so I knew it would be something David and Charlie would want to check into. So before I mentioned the Microcar Museum to them I went to the website and looked around. As I did I found myself lost in the cars and I didn’t want to get off.
Which meant both Charlie and David would enjoy learning about the Microcar as well. So I this morning Charlie and I would like to invite you to check out the Microcar Museum . As we thought you might enjoy it just as much as we did. If you do take the time to visit the site Charlie has asked for you to come back and let him know what you liked or disliked about the site and why.
Age Range: All (All grades; children with parental supervision)
Take a fun virtual tour of a microcar museum. This archived website of the now closed Bruce Weiner Microcar Museum in Madison, Georgia, showcases the cars once in their collection.
One might ask, what exactly is a microcar? A microcar, otherwise known as a “bubble car”, is an economy vehicle with an engine size less than 700cc or battery powered, with 2 doors or less, can have 3 or 4 wheels, and was manufactured after 1945. Microcars played an important role in Europe after World War II as they worked to deal with shortages of food and gas.
After arriving at today’s site, you can begin browsing through the over 200 cars by selecting either the “START TOUR” or “TOUR INDEX” links under the showroom image. Each car provides:
- Multiple image of the car
- Informative text about the car
- Specs related to the car
This is an interesting tour and sure to be interesting for the car enthusiast in any family.
