I don’t know about you but teaching Charlie Science in our Homeschool Class is hard. Because I don’t know anything about Science which has been frustrating Charlie. Until I found a press release on Roger Day and Citizen Scientists. I sat down and listened to the song which I found myself humming all day long.
Knowing I was singing along to the song and asking myself what all Roger Day would and wouldn’t do in Science. Let me know both Charlie and David might enjoy Roger Day as well. Which is why were going to view the “Big Picture” on YouTube. Would you want to watch the video with my family?
Calling all Citizen Scientists! Two of the nation’s top children’s media creators have teamed up to inspire youngsters’ STEAM-ful curiosity with an inspirational new kid-friendly music video called “Big Picture,” based on the song from Roger Day’s award-winning album Invincible. I hope you enjoy it and share it.

“I see the big picture, and I break it down.
I can’t wait to investigate…
It’s all out there waiting
For a scientist like me.”
The four-time Parents’ Choice Award-winning troubadour Roger Day and New York Times bestselling author Susan Verde co-wrote this original song, which is a hit from Roger’s newest award-winning album Invincible. The song and album received rave reviews and international radio spins when it was released during the pandemic. As Veronica De Fazio noted in her Kids Rhythm & Rock blog, the whole album is “filled with songs that encourage children to embrace the superhero within them, this is just the collection of songs that students need in these most unusual of times. From beginning to end, these tunes urge children to use their imaginations, be curious, and find their own super powers.”
Stream the original song and read the lyrics to “Big Picture” on Bandcamp.
(If you wish to download the tune, go right ahead. Roger asks that you “name your price” as 0.00. His treat!)In the new music video Roger Day and a lively group of young “citizen scientists” question, investigate, solve for “x” and look around to discover the universe. The scientific process can begin in one’s own backyard.
About the songwriters:
Day says that his own childhood memories of unstructured play and discovery — even the extreme excitement of finding a worm in the dirt — were the inspiration for “Big Picture.” Adds Verde,“This is such a beautiful and tuneful way to allow kids to approach the idea of being a scientist and to celebrate the sense of discovery in everyday life.”
