Cigar Boxes Do You Remember Them?

I was helping Charlie purchase the items he needed for school. Charlie pointed out that he had to have a pencil box. Off we went to Walmart to see what we could find. There were so many pencil cases there, but it seemed everyone I pointed out Charlie didn’t want as someone in his class already had one just like it. Or they cost much more than David or I wanted to spend.

Charlie finally settled on one, and I am sure to half the kids in his school have the same one. I have been trying to figure out how to make his different than the other children’s so he would know it was his.

Crystal & Co.

I was online I found a post on Crystal and Co. which shows us how to paint the pencil boxes we purchase. Next year Charlie and I are going to make his pencil case and getting into practice we may go ahead and do the one I keep the cigar box I keep on my desk.Because with Charlie designing our cigar box would make it a keepsake from Charlie.

As we talked about pencil boxes, Charlie asked me what I used when I was in school. I told Charlie we used Cigar Boxes and Charlie has no, clue what they are. So I want to go out to the mall to the Cigar shop and show them to Charlie.

Once he sees what they are, I will tell him about my Aunt who used to run a cigarette counter in our local store when I was growing up. By sharing this story with Charlie, I will be able to teach him some history of our family. I can even talk to Charlie about smoking and how my grandmother ended up with Cancer from tobacco and remind him all the reasons we shouldn’t smoke.

Since my mom and dad, both have Emphysema from smoking. Which, they both, did from a young age up until my mothers passing. And they started young. My grandmother even smoked in her home with an Oxygen Tank on which was very dangerous.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
