As a key advisor to and resource for the Gee’s Bend Quilters, Nest seeks to shine a light on American makers, ultimately increasing their business acumen and success as entrepreneurs. Collection was designed by Gee’s Bend artist JoeAnn Pettway-West and celebrates the heritage and craft of the women quilters of Gee’s Bend, Alabama

The women of Gee’s Bend are renowned for their hand-sewn quilts, considered a crucial contribution to the history of American art

Gee’s Bend is a small town tucked along a wide bend in the Alabama River. Most residents in this village trace their lineage back to slaves and shareholders of the Pettway Plantation

The Gee’s Bend Quilters have produced countless patchwork masterpieces, with the oldest examples dating from the 1920s. Enlivened by a visual imagination that extends the expressive boundaries of the quilt genre, these astounding creations constitute a crucial chapter in the history of American craft
