Christmas Gift Guide 2019 Sponsor Mango Media

The Mommies Reviews

I would like to introduce you to our Christmas Gift Guide 2019 Sponsor Mango Media who sent me the following books It’s Your Weirdness That Makes You Wonderful, Kindness Rocks Journal, Tricks in the City, Why We Love Star Wars, The Origin of Names, Words and Everything In Between, in exchange for a review and spot in this years Christmas Gift Guide.

I chose these books because they are perfect for not only adults but pre-teen children like Charlie. In the hopes that I can get him to sit down and read each evening which he hasn’t been doing.

I can tell you after looking through each of the novels even if Charlie doesn’t read them I can’t wait to and I hope once I begin reading David will join me which will intrigue Charlie and hopefully get him to read with us.

I chose It’s Your Weirdness That Makes You Wonderful because like many other people I suffer from depression, and I have a hard time making people understand what I am going through. I hope by sharing It’s Your Weirdness That Makes You Wonderful with Charlie he will see how I feel and admit to me that he also has the same feelings.

It’s Your Weirdness That Makes You Wonderful A Lesson in Self-Acceptance from Affirming Animals

From the author of the bestselling book, You Can Do All Things

Step into a state of mindfulness: Depression and anxiety are topics that can be uncomfortable to talk about, but that doesn’t mean they should be avoided. If anything, it means we need to be more aware and have more conversations about them.

With the help of her adorable illustrations, art blogger Kate Allan (known through her remarkably popular Tumblr blog as “The Latest Kate”) urges us to be mindful of our mentality.

Work through anxiety and depression with the help of enlightening words: Allan, who suffers from anxiety and depression herself, understands what it’s like to deal with feelings that are difficult to fight through.

In this book, she provides the personal kind of encouragement that she herself needs to hear. These encouraging words, along with writing prompts, can help readers sort through and express their feelings.

Practice self-love through self-care: Kate Allan’s creative journal meets us where we are―in the midst of the feelings that say we’re not enough, we can’t handle this life, we won’t make it.

Her whimsical art and simple words lift trampled spirits and combat thoughts that lead us to believe our weirdness makes us weak. Young and old, we are encouraged to love ourselves exactly as we are.

In this collection of affirming illustrations, It’s Your Weirdness That Makes You Wonderful, you will find:

  • A source of colorful and creative validation and affirmations for the struggles you face and the feelings of depression that may accompany them
  • Anxiety-reducing visual art and journaling prompts to better understand and process your mental health
  • Support animals in book-form that come along with you wherever you need them!

Readers of Made Out of StarsMy Friend Fear, Start Where You Are, and You’re Weird will find further comfort and healing in Kate Allan’s It’s Your Weirdness That Makes You Wonderful.

The Kindness Rocks Journal:

An Interactive Space to Work through Difficult Times and Create Inspiring Messages to Share with Others.

I chose The Kindness Rocks Journal because adults and children in our hometown are writing on rocks. Then they leave the rocks for others to find. Charlie loves going out and looking for the rocks and bringing them home with him.

I’ve seen how happy finding the rocks and the message or art work on the rocks makes Charlie. I would like to purchase paint this weekend and find rocks for Charlie and I to leave messages on. Then go out in our area and leave them for others to find.

On the bottom of the rocks I would like to leave Charlies name and email address and ask the people who find the rocks to send Charlie a message so he can get to know new people.

The Kindness Rocks Project, in Journal Form

Fans of Start with GratitudeThe Kindness Challenge and the Chicken Soup for the Soul books will love the  Kindness Rocks Journal.

A rock for each kindness: It all started with a single stone on a beach in Cape Cod and now spans the globe. The Kindness Rocks Project, founded by Megan Murphy, author of A Pebble for Your Thoughts, is based on the profound truth that one kind message at the right moment can change someone’s day, their outlook, and their whole life.

This rock painting project has become an international grassroots movement! The messages on these positivity pebbles take many forms: gratitude, affirmations, encouragement, offers of hope―all signposts along the way for someone to find at exactly the right time.

A Kindness and Gratitude Journal: Now more than ever, people are longing for kindness and connection. During these uncertain times, daily news reports focus on disturbing events of terrorism, gun violence, senseless murders, and political bickering.

We are bombarded with images that evoke fear and hostility. The Kindness Rocks Journal provides a space to create a positive counteraction to all this negativity.

Learn to be kinder to yourself and others: Sometimes, all it takes is just one simple positive message to change your perspective, and that is what this interactive writing journal aims to help you do.

In the Kindness Rocks Journal, you will have space to:

  • Grow through hard times with kindness and joy
