We had a great chat last week with the creators of CodeCombat, a popular classroom in-a-box for teaching computer science with Python and JavaScript — two popular programming languages for the Internet. CodeCombat is currently being used in over 3,000 schools.
The idea of CodeCombat is that students learn how to program by playing a real game. During the game, students write code and see their changes update the game in real-time. As one teacher said I think [the students] actually forgot that they were actually learning something. Teachers need little or no prior programming experience. A free trial is available.

We had a great conversation last week with the David Dodge, the creator of the popular CodaKid online courses for teaching Minecraft modding and JavaScript programming. Dave is a bona-fide game designer who is credited in the development of over 30 games for the Sony Playstation, PC, and several SEGA platforms.
