Charlie’s day at the Library and what Charlie did.
So today I would like to share with you Charlie’s day at the Library and what Charlie did. While I looked for Homeschooling Books to use with The Five In A Row series. And this was the first week I needed to gather books for Five In A Row.
So I was working with the children’s librarian. And David and Charlie was looking at the movies. When Charlie walked back up to where the librarian and I was and started to look at the books on the shelf. And I let him know he needed to be quite as I needed to hear what the librarian was telling me.
So the librarian and I continue to gather the books I need. And I start to back up and I step on something and it is Charlie sitting in the floor. And he has a book he found and is looking through it. And then Charlie starts to ask the librarian some questions. And this isn’t something Charlie would have done if I hadn’t been working with him on his reading.
So this is the 2nd week in a row that Charlie has picked out a book on his own and asked if he could get check it out. But this week Charlie went even further than that and took the book Lucy Long Ago he found and went and checked it out on his own. And picked up a book marker to mark his space in the book with.
And at the beginning of the Summer Charlie would never have done this. And Charlie wouldn’t be wanting to read with me. And so for Charlie this is huge plus. And it tells me Homeschooling Charlie is the right move. And I can tell from listening to Charlie read that his reading has gotten better. And I couldn’t be more proud of Charlie.
Skeleton Hiccups
And with all the reading Charlie has done this Summer he has turned in over 1,000 minutes in reading and I never thought I would see that happen. And his vocabulary has gotten bigger and Charlie is using words I didn’t think he would know. And using them in the right content.
So today all I can say is Thank you David for allowing me to Homeschool Charlie. And for the Lord for the strength to do this. And to Thaleia Maher and Elle Emme for all of there help and support. And for my mother in law who buys books for Charlie.
So 3rd grade here we come. And we can do it and will be a success.
