Like his sister Leslie, Charlie would ask for a Hermit Crab every time we would go to any mall. Since I didn’t care for Hermit Crabs Charlie wasn’t able to ever get one. So one day when we were down at David’s moms visiting we noticed Leslie had gotten a Hermit Crab. So I let Charlie know he would be able to get one as well.
I gave in and told Charlie the next time we were at Grapevine Mills Mall Charlie could get a Hermit Crab as well. Not knowing we would end up at Grapevine Mills Mall that weekend. Or that Charlie would remember what I said.
Low and behold as soon as we went to Grapevine Mills Mall the first place Charlie wanted to visit was the Kiosk in the mall where they sell Hermit Crabs. As Charlie wanted to look at the Hermit Crabs to see if there was one he wanted. As we walked up to the Kiosk it just happened they were having a sale on Hermit Crabs.
So we came home with a Hermit Crab for Charlie. I was impressed with all the different Hermit Crabs they had. As I watched Charlie look through the Hermit Crabs I was certain he would pick one that looked like it was decorated for a boy.
Charlie surprised me as he picked out a pink and purple Hermit Crab as pink and purple are the colors Suzzane and I like the most. As we was leaving Grapevine Mills Mall Charlie decided to name his Hermit Crab.
We walked through the mall with Charlie carrying his Hermit Crab and talking to it. I kept listening when all of a sudden Charlie goes mommy guess what her name is. Now, mind you I am not sure Charlies Hermit Crab is actually a girl but Charlie says his Crab is. So I will just go along with Charlie as I wouldn’t want to crush his dreams.
Charlies Hermit Crab is named Suzzy after his sister Suzzane. I am not sure what Suzzane would think of having a Hermit Crab named after her. But what I do know is I was so impressed with Charlie and his kindness of making Suzzane a part of his life.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
