Charlie has always been a perfectionist when it comes to his work in school. And has always been a bit slower than other children. Especially when it comes to his writing. So yesterday Charlie came in from school and had a stack of homework with him.
And I sat down to work on it with Charlie and I could tell he was upset about something but he wouldn’t say what. And we was due at a Birthday Party. So we left and went down to my friends and had dinner and cake.
Then we came home and I got Charlie ready for bed. And once he was laid down he says mom I got into trouble at school today. And I asked why and he says because I didn’t write fast enough. And I think that is wrong. And she should check into why Charlie is like this. Not just get on him.
Because of what she told Charlie now he doesn’t want to go to school. And he is afraid he will get into trouble again. And my heart is breaking for Charlie. And I am not sure how to help him. Does anyone have any suggestions??
So now that you know Charlie has always been a perfectionist and what he struggles on. What about your children are they the same way? And do they write slow? And do they have to make sure things are correct and just erase and erase and keep erasing liked Charlie does?
Or do they just do there work once and move on even if they aren’t sure about it? Because my son gets so frustrated that I can’t get him to even learn the Spelling words his teacher says he should know. Even when I know he knows them and so does David.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
