Catfish Sam’s

My mother and father in law have been eating at Catfish Sam’s for years. David and I’ve been together 12 years. We’ve talked about going to eat at Catfish Sam’s but hadn’t ever been. David’s Birthday came and David asked if I wanted to have dinner at Catfish Sam’s.

I said that would be fine. David called my friend Nancy and he asked if her and her husband Ronnie would like to meet us at Catfish Sam’s for dinner. Nancy said yes, since we had cancelled David’s Drive By Birthday party.

Ronnie and Nancy arrived before we did. They were seated when we arrived because there was no wait. We sat down and the waitress took our drink order. We looked at Catfish Sam’s menu to decide what we wanted.

We had to wait a bit for the waitress to return even though that evening the restaurant wasn’t busy. Finally we placed our order. Nancy had to ask for refills on our drinks which took forever to come.

I ordered the CHICKEN FRIED STEAK fixed in house. The Chicken Fried Steak was hand breaded, smothered in Country Gravy served with a Baked Potato. I let the waitress know I didn’t want any Cole Slaw. The waitress asked if I would like 3 extra Hushpuppies I said that would be fine. Charlie and David also opted for extra Hush puppies.

Our dinner arrived. My Chicken Fried Steak was over cooked but our food took a while to get to us. We couldn’t get drink refills. I didn’t want to send my dinner back. I ended up eating the Chicken Friend Steak but if we return I’m not sure I would order Chicken Friend Steak again. Even though Chicken Friend Steak is my favorite meal.

This is sad because I don’t care for Fish or Shrimp. Which would lead me to a DELUXE CHEESEBURGER. Which is what Ronnie ordered. I asked Ronnie how the DELUXE CHEESEBURGER was. Ronnie said the Deluxe Cheeseburger was good and that he would order this and Fries again.

Charlie chose CHICKEN STRIP DINNER and Fries, Charlie said CHICKEN STRIP DINNER and Fries didn’t have much taste. I picked a CHICKEN STRIP up they were cold and hard. I hope if we return Charlie will order Shrimp. I think he would like the Shrimp more.

Nancy ordered a SHRIMP BASKET. Nancy said SHRIMP BASKET was good. For a appetizer Nancy chose Fried Pickles. Nancy said the Fried Pickles weren’t salty but wasn’t sure she would order them again.

David tried the Fried Pickles as well. David said he didn’t know if he would order these again. David chose the SMALL CATFISH DINNER which comes with French Fries. David liked his Catfish a lot. David doesn’t eat Catfish in restaurants because he says at times they taste like Muddy Water. Catfish Sam’s Catfish tasted fresh. David even let his friends know to come to Catfish Sam’s.

With our meal everyone was given a Relish Tray. I wish the waitress would have told us what everything was because we didn’t know. We didn’t have a menu to refer to. Nancy tried some of the Relish tray and said it was okay.

My family didn’t like anything on the Relish tray and will not get it again. Or the Hushpuppies which were gummy on the inside. They weren’t like the Hush Puppies we usually eat.

I felt bad about inviting my friends to Catfish Sam’s dinner especially after all the ratings said the food was good. As well as my mother in law and father in law who raves about Catfish Sam’s when we couldn’t even get a drink refill.

All in all I would give Catfish Sam’s a 2 or 3 which is my honest opinion. Along, with my guest. I would like to remind you everyone has there own opinion and you may go and love the food and have wonderful service. Don’t let my review keep you from trying out Catfish Sam’s.

Especially the Dinner Rolls that are served with Dinner. Or the Pinto Beans that are so tasty and something you wouldn’t want to miss. Just ask my father in law who likes to have more than one bowl with his meal.
