Welcome to this weeks Blogger Shout Out. This week I would like to introduce you to Stephanie Stephanie is (more commonly known as Mrs. M to her students) from Teaching In Room 6. Isn’t that just the cutest name ever? I also liked the name her students gave her as it is unique and different.
ALL ABOUT Room 6
Hi! I am an upper grade teacher. From the moment I stepped into my first classroom (a 4/5 split class), I knew that upper grades were for me. The interaction and level of conversation, the content I am teaching, the level of understanding the upper grade kids have….I was caught hook, line, and sinker by the upper grade bug.
I enjoyed the design of Mrs. M’s blog and the header for Teaching In Room 6 is so fun and cute. The colors she chose for Teaching In Room 6 pop. Did you notice on the banner is a yellow pencil and also a apple. What more does a teacher need? Students you say. Well Stephanie has then as well.
Here is what Stephanie aka Mrs. M says about her Blog:
This blog is designed to be a “catch all” of those ideas I use in my classroom. There are some classroom management ideas, subject area ideas, teachable moments, Vista Print, and other things that I do that others might find useful. I will try my hardest to include all of the documents that I create for each lesson I post, or links to the information on the web. I want this to be a place where teachers can come to get inspiration, ideas, and walk away with actual sheets to use in their class.
This morning as I was looking through Mrs. M class I came across this resource I would like to share Real Estate Math. I like how Real Estate Math teaches check writing. I choose this resource because in public schools they do not teach check writing. When my stepdaughter and niece graduated from High School neither of them knew how to write a check. Which I thought was crazy as I remember learning this when I was in Elementary School. Did you learn check writing when you went to school?
To me this is unacceptable I think all children should learn how to write a check. Even though checks may become obsolete with the way we are going. I believe it would still be nice for our children to learn how to write a check. Although now day’s everyone seems to use Credit Cards for everything.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
