Beach Day Coloring Page

The Mommies Reviews

As we begin a new week Charlie and I are blessed as we will be visiting a Water Park this weekend. I can’t wait to go because both Charlie and I love to Swim.

Walking in a Wave Pool is a great way for me to get my Exercise in without being out in the Heat. Although I have caught a cold and if I am not better by Friday I may not be able to Swim.

This weekend will be lots of resting and walking when or if I can because I started my new Diet. Although if I don’t plan on pushing it and if I don’t feel better I will not get out and walk.

To keep Charlie entertained this week I made him this Beach coloring sheet and I put together a couple writing pages using prompts I came up with. Then I found a couple books about the Beach I want David to go and pick up this afternoon.

Writing Prompts:

  1. What I found when I visited the Beach
  2. What would I pack to take the Beach
  3. Traveling to the Beach here is what I saw and did
  4. Who I brought with me to the Beach

Books
Daisy Dawson at the Beach [Book]

Rescuing a dolphin is easier when you can talk to animals! Daisy returns in a summer adventure, meeting new friends from surfing rabbits to a dancing crab.
(Ages 6-9)

School’s out for Daisy Dawson, and things couldn’t be any better. Imagine a whole summer at the beach, full of sand, sun, and surfing! And now that she’s making new animal friends – a crab named Pinchy who likes to dance and two fun-loving rabbits named Rabsy and Raberta – her vacation promises to be all the more exciting.

But when Daisy hears a call for help from the bottom of the sea, she finds a dolphin in deep trouble, caught in old fishing nets. Will Daisy and her friends be able to save the dolphin before it’s too late?

New York Times bestselling author and artist James Dean brings Pete the Cat fans some fun in the sun!

Pete the Cat is one groovy cat at finding shells and building sand castles at the beach. But when it gets too hot, there’s only one way to cool off—jump into the ocean! Except Pete might be a scaredy-cat when it comes to the water.

Pete the Cat: Pete at the Beach is a My First I Can Read book, which means it’s perfect for shared reading with a child.

Down at the Beach [Book]

Just like in the popular song “Wheels on the Bus,” here in Hawaii the wheels on the bike go round and round down at the beach, whee kids can read and sing along to the flop, flop, flop of slippers on the sand and the splash, splash, splash of keiki in the water. Sure to become a favorite, Down at the Beach will have your youngest one singing and reading along.

At the Beach: Postcards from Crabby Spit [Book]

Detailing the perfect beach getaway, this charming picture book uses individual postcards to tell the tale of one family’s adventures at Crabby Spit. In the spirit of Where’s Waldo, beach items such as a hat, towel, and sandals are lost—and children must find them with the help of the mischievous family dog, Rajah. Humorous and warm family vacation activities are depicted, and include paddling, surfing, and finding treasures, making this ideal holiday and travel gift.

Sally Goes to the Beach [Book]

This fun-filled tale, told from a dog’s point of view, tells of all the wonderful sights, smells, and events Sally experiences while hanging around with the family during a day at the beach.

lama Llama Sand and Sun, by Anna Dewdney

Duck & Goose Go to the Beach

Take a trip to the beach with the beloved, classic, and New York Times–bestselling odd couple Duck & Goose!

Duck
wants to go on an adventure. But Goose isn’t so sure. Together, the two best friends set off on a walk that takes them through the meadow, past a shady thicket, and over a distant hill, all the way to a place they’ve never been before—the beach! Turns out, Goose loves the ocean. But guess who doesn’t?

A Day at the Seashore [Book]

Nancy and Timmy hop out of their beds one summer morning and help pack their swimsuits and lunch. And then it’s off to the seashore! In a charming rhyme, this Little Golden Book from 1951 (then titled A Day at the Beach) describes what preschoolers will find there: “You can catch little crabs—if you’re quick! You can draw great big pictures right on the beach with a piece of a shell or a stick.” Oh, what fun!

From Kathryn and Byron Jackson, authors of the popular Little Golden Book The Saggy Baggy Elephant, and Corinne Malvern, illustrator of the Little Golden Books Doctor Dan the Bandage Man and Nurse Nancy.

Harry is a black dog with white spots who loves everything about the beach—except the heat. He just wants a shady spot to escape from the sun, but there’s no room for him under the family’s umbrella or in the children’s sand castle. A big wave comes along and cools Harry off, but it also leaves him covered in seaweed, making everyone think he’s a sea monster. (Seriously, did everyone learn nothing after Harry became unrecognizable covered in dirt in Harry the Dirty Dog?)
