August 14 National Creamsicle Day #CreamsicleDay

Holidays

Life is funny it may be early here but when you tell your husband August 14th s National Creamsicle Day #CreamsicleDay just like a child he ask if he can have a #Creamsicle for breakfast. No, David you can not have a Creamsicle for breakfast.

If your good very good and get all of your #honey-do’s done I will get your a Creamsicle this evening and since you have so much to do today I might even let you have two Creamsicles. See mommy I can be nice sometimes. Surprise.

I have a question for you. Is it really Summer if you haven’t had a Creamsicle yet? No, it isn’t. Today remedies that problems because it’s National Creamsicle Day. National Creamsicle Day is designed to celebrate the delicious Citrus and creamy dessert on a stick that most of us enjoy throughout the warmer months. After all, there is no better way to cool down when the sun is shining, is there that to have a Creamsicle or two?

While “Creamsicle” is actually a brand name, a lot of people have come to use Creamsicle to describe any sort of similar Ice Cream. The original Creamsicle, though, consists of Vanilla Ice Cream that is on an Ice lolly stick, with iced Orange Juice coating the outside. Orange was the original flavor, but did you know now there are now lots of other flavors for you to choose from? Including everything from Strawberry to Blueberry and Grape. David says only Orange Creamsicles will do for him. How about you and why?

I would like to ask you a question. Did you know that there have been many different variations of the Creamsicle made by the brand? For example, you can get the Fudgsicle, which is a Chocolate flavored pop that has a texture that is very much like Ice Cream?

There is also a Dreamsicle, which contains Ice Milk rather than Ice Cream. The brand has also created Sugar-free Pops, low-fat Pops, and 100-calorie Bars. if you are watching what you eat or you are on a certain type of diet, you do not need to miss out on a Creamsicle; you can still indulge and enjoy yourself!

The Creamsicle was originally created by Frank Epperson in 1905, this industrious, and inventive 11 year old experimented with putting Fruit Juice around Vanilla Ice Cream. The original ‘Epsicle’, which later became known as a Popsicle, Creamsicle and even Dreamsicle, were done with just the Orange Juice outside. However now you can find Creamsicles in a myriad of flavors, from Orange to Blue Raspberry, Lime, Grape, Cherry and even Blueberry!

Creamsicle has been a staple of the Summertime Ice Cream truck since they started moving around, and served at various warm locations since they were spread around as a treat. People have been going around trying all sorts of Creamsicles from different areas and locales. Apparently the Creamsicles served on Long Island are less about the Orange as they are the strong Vanilla, while in Florida’s Palm Beach you get a small amount of Vanilla flavor and a crazy amount of Orange.

How to celebrate National Creamsicle Day

One would think just going out and getting a Creamsicle would be the end of celebrating National Creamsicle Day. Yet you wouldn’t be farther from the truth. Even today, grocery stores and markets have Creamsicles in large boxes, individually wrapped, or sometimes even in small packages for a couple of the Creamsicles, perfect for the whole family.

Despite being so well known, there are those that have never had a Creamsicles! You could always share a Creamsicle with those that have never encountered a Creamsicles before. Instead of just going to the store and purchasing Creamsicles, one could always make them Creamsicles home. Turn making them into a family project, or even experiment with different flavors. Just mix together Fruit Juice and Vanilla Ice Cream into a large bowl.

Then add Milk slowly and carefully, while continuing to mix. Finally, pour this mixture into small paper cups. Put the creation into your freezer, and once they are partially frozen, push in Popsicle sticks or lollipop sticks into them and carefully replace them back inside the freezer. Once frozen solid and here is a tip for you the best way to tell if the Creamsicle is frozen is to squeeze the cup a little. If it doesn’t stay solid, it isn’t frozen enough yet), peel off the paper cups and enjoy your homemade Creamsicle!

There are so many different types of flavors that you can play around with as well. All you need to do is a quick search online and you will be able to see recipes for heaps of different flavors. Including everything from other Fruit flavors, to dessert-inspired Creamsicles, to Alcohol Creamsicles for adults that are looking for a tasty treat and David said he would like a Alcohol Creamsicle. What about you? No, matter what you want you are bound to find something that appeals to your taste buds, that’s for sure!

In fact, we have seen a lot of people get creative on National Creamsicle Day, creating different baked goods and desserts that have been inspired by Creamsicles. For example, we came across a delicious Creamsicle Donut one year. Which was a Chocolate Donut, which was dipped in warm Vanilla and covered in a warm Chocolate Glaze and an Orange Glaze, with a Powdered Sugar finishing off the creation. I think I will pass. How about you?

We have also seen a lot of people create Orange Creamsicle Cupcakes for National Creamsicle Day. If you are someone who likes to bake, you will definitely have fun coming up with an exciting recipe. If you are lucky enough to Homeschool like I had done with Charlie get the kids into the kitchen and let them come up with there own recipe for a Creamsicle or tow.

You do not need to spend all day in the kitchen to celebrate National Creamsicle Day, though! There are plenty of other ways to make sure that you pay tribute to the Creamsicle. You could simply treat everyone at work to a Creamsicle. We are sure that this will put a smile on everyone’s faces and put you in the good books for the rest of the week.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
