I love finding new and unusual cookbooks to give as Gifts as well as keep for my collection. Even if I never use the recipes inside the books some of the covers make cute decorations and cute coffee table books.
When we was in the Fort Worth Stockyards the other day I found a cook called As The Spur Stirs: The Art of Bringing A Western Family, Friends & Food Together which I want to get and put up on the shelf in my dinning room.
I can’t wait to thumb through the cookbook and see all of the recipes they collected for us. I hope there is one for Chicken Fried Steak and also Chicken and Dumplings like my grandmother used to prepare on Sunday’s.
The 272-page cookbook features a collection of recipes Cavender gathered over the years from her mother and mother-in-law’s kitchens as well as from inside the cupboards of close friends and celebrity supporters including Grammy-award winner Celine Dion, First Lady Laura Bush, country singer Pat Green, “King of Country” George Strait, model Kathy Ireland and actor Dennis Quaid, to name just a few.
Through this collection of trusted and tasty recipes, Cavender hopes to uphold the lifelong legacies of her own family, the families who have helped to contribute their recipes, and those who have not yet had a chance to create their own. Expect to see everything from comfort foods to delectable chef creations.
Proceeds raised benefit the American Cancer Society and Cystic Fibrosis research.
