I have a question for you this morning. Can you believe it’s Saturday, September 21, 2019, where has this month gone to? Being Saturday its time fo Art in our Homeschooling class. I would like to ask you to check out these Recommended Website: Which Artists Share Your Birthday? Which Artists Share Your Birthday? Age Range: All (All grades; children with parental supervision) The Smithsonian American Art Museum offers this free, interactive tool that lets you find out what artists share your birthday! Plus, you can learn more about the artists and see some of their work. When you get to the website, just follow the instructions to enter the month, day, and year of your birth. Click “Find” and a new page opens with a menu of artists born on your birthday. (If there are no results, just remove the year to find artists that were born on the same day as you were, but not the same year.) Each artist’s name is linked to a page that provides some basic information about them – and in some cases you can read an extensive biography. Plus, you can click on “Works in the Collection” to see pictures of their artwork that are housed at the museum. You may not recognize the names of the artists who share your birthdate, but it’s fun to get to know them through this activity. It may springboard you to all kinds of art appreciation education. Note: Art is in the eye of the beholder. Therefore, parents (as always) should preview the art to determine suitability of content, and supervise all Internet access. |
Thank you, Glenda, Charlie and David Cates |
