April 27 National Pool Opening Day #PoolOpeningDay

The Mommies Reviews

Grab your swimming suits because today is April 27 National Pool Opening Day #PoolOpeningDay. I miss Suzzane because like me she loved swimming and would have lived in the pool if she could have. In the meantime here I am waiting for our Swimming Pool at @AppianWayApartmentHomes to open.

The funny part is I’m not the only one counting down the days to go swimming so is David and even Charlie’s friends keep asking if the swimming pool is open. The sad part is as much as Charlie used to love to go swimming not anymore thanks to his friend B ie Bradley who tried to drown Charlie multiple time and his grandfather Tommy wouldn’t stop B.

Before you ask what about David or I we weren’t there they was as Tommy’s house. Charlie didn’t say anything for a long time because he knew I would have went off on them and now its affecting things we could have done as a family. Which sucks and yes, I said sucks as much as I hate that word. Would you like to go swimming with me because I need to use the Pool to walk in and get my exercise in and to lose the weight I need to lose.

National Pool Opening Day reminds pool owners and swimmers all across the U.S. to take the time to get there swimming pools summer-ready and make our swimming pools safe to enjoy during warmer months. Swimming pools help people relax, practice their swimming and provide the opportunity to interact with family and friends. National Pool Opening Day was founded by Leslie’s Swimming Pool to highlight the importance of pool safety and hygiene.

Did you know back in the day Roman, Assyrian, and Greek warriors were taught to swim as part of their martial training. In 1828, indoor swimming pools became popular in England as St George’s Baths was opened for locals. Swimming was included in the Olympics as a sport in 1896 but only males could participate and it was only in 1912 that women were also allowed to enter the contest. Common swimming styles, at the time, were sidestroke, breaststroke, backstroke, and crawl, and for each competition, the swimming distance was different.

The first person to swim across the 20-mile width of the English Channel was merchant navy captain, Matthew Webb in 1875. Matthew Webb crossed the English Channel in 21 hours and 45 minutes having to swim against tidal currents. The first woman to succeed in this feat was Gertrude Caroline Ederle, a competitive swimmer from the U.S. in 1926 for whom it took only 14 hours and 31 minutes. Today, swimming has become so popular that there are swimming pools in schools, colleges, and universities where students are trained.
